Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning to Afternoon, The Park

As was traditional, the start of the end of Parents' Weekend featured plenty of food, benches, chairs, and coffee in the park. After all, the Student Council couldn't let the parents be weirded out one last time without a feast.

The sky was a little overcast, but the temperatures were still above normal, which was a lucky break for the final day of the weekend.

"Or something," she agreed. "Yeah, it's weird, being around both of them when they're in different parts of their lives, since Simon like, knows his future and all. Plus I'm pretty sure I deserve a medal for dating any version of that boy."

"Pretty much." Yeah, Alisha had no choice but to agree there. Nathan prided himself on bein annoying twat, after all. "Not exactly every mum's favourite, yeah?"

"Neither am I," Ramona replied, gesturing to her hair. "I kinda give terrible parent, you know?" She kind of figured Alisha did know, actually.

Yeah, Alisha wasn't exactly any parents' favourite, either. "I guess," she conceded. "I can't imagine him in a relationship, so good luck with that."

"Thanks. So you're Simon's...friend?" she asked, perhaps a little nosily. Simon wasn't exactly open about anything, ever, so prying was the way to go.

Alisha hesitated just for a second or two, then quirked a quick smile at Ramona. "Yeah. I'm Simon's friend."

Because that shit was complicated and she didn't quite feel like opening up about it or anything.

"Like you. Except I don't live with him."

... Except for whenever she stayed over at his fancy lair, but that didn't count because he was never there these days.

"I didn't really ask to," Ramona offered, in case Alisha thought at all that it was Like That. "I mean, school assigned rooms. I just lucked out and got the quiet sweet guy. I could've done way worse. And he helped me through some rough stuff, so...you've got a good guy on your hands. I mean, as your friend."

"I know," Alisha replied, with a hint of a lopsided smile, then was quick to add, "As a friend."

Okay, overdoing it now. "S, he's a good roommate, yeah?"

"He's the best," she assured her, smiling lightly. "I'm totally the messy one of the two of us, and he's quiet and minds his business, and I never get sexiled or anything. Pretty much perfect, if you ask me."

"Oh. Good." Alisha's little smile might've betrayed that she actually thought that. She was proud of him, okay?

"I just wanted to see how he was doing," she added. "You know, with the dorm life and shit? 'Case I needed to give him a stern talking to." As if she would've given him one. "It was nice meeting you, Ramona."

Now that she didn't register as a threat of any kind.
