Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning to Afternoon, The Park

As was traditional, the start of the end of Parents' Weekend featured plenty of food, benches, chairs, and coffee in the park. After all, the Student Council couldn't let the parents be weirded out one last time without a feast.

The sky was a little overcast, but the temperatures were still above normal, which was a lucky break for the final day of the weekend.

"Well what's not to like?" Jeremy wondered. "Stephanie's awesome. She's maximum. Best roomie ever."

They didn't really know each other that well, either, but they'd also always gotten along. Plus, she was a pretty girl.

"She's sweet and smart and all of that," Juliet said carefully. "She's just ... you know. Poor. He isn't."

"Well, yeah, but... Jules, you know, some people can't help being poor and it's not their fault." Having nothing to do with the fact that he'd been out with a girl who wasn't exactly rich. "It's not their fault."

"Yeah, I know it's not their fault, but it's still -- different." She shrugged. "Sov gave me this handmade box. I didn't know what to say about it."

Okay, so she'd failed at dating the non-rich.

"Maybe I just need a boyfriend."

"Maybe." Jeremy couldn't help feeling a little protective of her over that idea, though. Just a bit. "Got anyone in particular in mind?"

"Not really," Juliet admitted. "There are a few cute people, but nobody where I'm like ... ready to jump in."

"Well, you shouldn't rush things," Jeremy decided, like he didn't tend to jump headfirst into things himself. "Just... take it slow and cool. Someone will turn up."

"I'm sure," Juliet agreed, though she wasn't. There didn't seem to be a lot of romantics out there; she wanted that. "Let's talk about you instead. How do you feel about Miley?"

She'd heard about Jeremy and George on the radio, but she was ignoring it until he told her specifically. Not every date meant something.

Jeremy shrugged his free shoulder. "She's fun," he said lightly, a little noncommittal. "Kinda reminds me of home, you know? The girls at our old school."

"She'd fit in awesome there. And she said she could get Hannah Montana for our birthday party, if we want," Juliet said lightly. She wanted it, but she'd back down if Jeremy hated the idea.

She noted the noncommittal note with disappointment. "But ... she's not really what you're looking for right now, huh?"

"Well, I don't know what I'm really lookin for," Jeremy mused with another shrug. Like it was any surprise he didn't know something about himself. He didn't work like that. "I don't know. I mean, I'm kinda digging George? But I dunno."

"I don't know her that well," Juliet said. "I ... guess if you dig her, it's all cool."

She'd have to try to make friends.
