Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning to Afternoon, The Park

As was traditional, the start of the end of Parents' Weekend featured plenty of food, benches, chairs, and coffee in the park. After all, the Student Council couldn't let the parents be weirded out one last time without a feast.

The sky was a little overcast, but the temperatures were still above normal, which was a lucky break for the final day of the weekend.

"Not that she told me," Jaime laughed at Tyrion's concern. "She is rather easy to rile up, but she's not bad with a blade for a wench."

"I told you!" Tyrion insisted proudly.

Not that he would have been able to test her skills himself, but he was glad Kate hadn't proven all talk.

"I doubt she liked being called a wench."

"She didn't," Jaime confirmed, his eyes full of mirth as he glanced over at Tyrion. "I think it made things more interesting."

"And she left the picnic in one piece?" Tyrion asked hopefully. "Then she has nothing to complain about."

Jaime completely agreed there. He had been practically nice to the girl in between calling her a wench.

"Is this going to be your thing now?" Jaime wondered. "Will you be having wenches to defend your honour from now on? I can understand some of the appeal."

Tyrion had to think about that for a moment. "Do you think there'd be enough in Kings Landing who'd be able and willing to do it?"

He wasn't serious, but it did make for a pretty mental image.

"I think three in four of the women you'll find willing to don armour and die will be butt ugly, but if you don't mind that... always people desperate enough."

Really, Jaime was good with a blade because otherwise he'd be dead already.

"Kate's not ugly," Tyrion felt obliged to point out. "But maybe I'll do that, when I get home. Find some whores who always wanted to be knights and make them my honor guard."

"No, she is not," Jaime had no problem admitting to that. He wasn't blind, his appreciation was just rather displaced. "I am certain that you will be the talk of King's Landing with that guard of yours. I am blaming you if Robert decides to put my cloak on one of his whores."

Tyrion stared at Jaime impassively for almost 30 seconds before he broke and started laughing hysterically at the mental image. "If you mention that to him, you know he'll try it."

"And this, brother, is why you will never tell him," Jaime shot him a dirty look before he joined in laughing. It was too hard not to as long as he didn't try to get any visuals.

"They would have to be maidens."

"I don't care if they fuck half the town, if they have my back and know what they're doing with a blade," Tyrion quibbled. "Maidens for the honor of it? Or to keep Robert away?"

"As if that would stop him," Jaime made a face as if he just tasted something foul. "I did not need to think about that. Did you know that your principal used to be a fighter as well?"

Thinking of Zoe was so much nicer.

"I didn't!" Tyrion said, impressed that Jaime had stumbled into a bit of information he didn't have yet. "What sort of fighting? She must have been good -- she's alive, after all."

"A soldier," Jaime said. "I don't know the specifics, but she ended up on the losing side of the war. Which led her here, apparently."

Did Tyrion need to know that he had called her a wench too? He possibly had called every woman he had talked to a wench just because he could.
