Peter Bishop was fashionably late, given he was way too old to be at a high school dance, even if he had friends here.

He didn't do awkward, though, so he was completely casual about this. That's just how Peter Bishop rolled.

"Sounds like high school really prepared you for it, then," said Harper, bubbling over with enthusiasm. She couldn't help it. "Of course, my world was pretty weird anyway, but I didn't know half of it. I'm living with a family of wizards, and they have all these friends who are giants and werewolves."

"Oh, wow. That's a lot more exciting than my parents. They've launched a new career as vaudeville performers," said Harper. "I'm not too crazy about their act."

"Yeah, that explains just how weird my parents are," said Harper with a sigh. "They picked up a gig in Romania and want me to come there and join their act. Fortunately, I got a better job with a designer in New York."

"It's an internship with a real honest-to-goodness fashion designer! I get to do all sorts of awesome stuff like picking up his dry cleaning and getting his coffee so he can concentrate on his work," said Harper.
