The Causeway, Sunday Morning/Afternoon

It was that time of the year again: spring break, with its travels to far away and exotic locales! Like Brazil.

Teachers and students had been asked to assemble at the causeway as per usual. Their portal would be leaving early on into the afternoon, so there was plenty of time to pack up your things and hurry on down to catch it.

So, the question remained: was everyone ready for some fun in the sun? Or was there still too much bodyswappy freaking out to be done?

"Good," Miley decided. "Because I was so not going to the beach by myself."

"You should probably know that I burn like... well, like a guy from Wisconsin who's not used to sun in February unless it's reflecting off of snow," Dave said. "I know it's not the best analogy, but it's stunningly accurate. So you may end up on the beach alone by the end of the week."

"Nope," Miley said firmly, reaching up to kiss him. "We'll get you sunscreen."

Thank god the pollen was gone and that sounded completely unsexy, right?

"I'm not sure they make an SPF high enough," Dave said. "Wait. We're in the future. They might have it now."

Look, he was 21 years in the future. He didn't have a jetpack, but he'd be happy with advanced sunscreen technology.

"Well, we'll have to find some," Miley declared. "So that I can teach you how to surf!"

"You're going to teach me how to surf?" Dave asked.

"Okay, but if I have to go to the hospital because of this, you have to ride in the ambulance with me," Dave said.

"...deal," Miley said. "But you won't."

"I'm holding you to that," Dave said. "But I'm sure you're a good teacher and that I have nothing to worry about."

At least, he was going to keep silently repeating it to himself until he did believe it sight unseen.

"She survived, right?" Dave checked teased.

Miley's smile wavered somewhat. "Uh-huh!"

Dave thought he saw something there for a second, but the upbeat response convinced him that it was nothing to worry about. "You know, if this goes well, I'm sure I could be talked into horse riding lessons, too."

Dave was being dumb right now.

"OMG, that'd be so cool!" Miley chirped. "BlueJeans would love you. Sure!"

"Your horse is named BlueJeans?" Dave asked.

"BlueJeans Stewart!" Miley confirmed.

Yes. The Stewart was important.

"I'm pretty sure my cat doesn't have a last name," Dave said, thinking it over. "I guess that's more of a horse thing."

"All horses have them," Miley said wisely.

"If you adopt a horse, does it keep its old last name or does it become a Stewart, too?" Dave asked. He was curious about the logic involved here.

"Stewart," Miley said brightly. "Just like if you adopt a kid. I think."

She had no idea.

"It makes a certain kind of sense," Dave said. "I've always said that horses and kids are basically the same thing."
