The Causeway, Sunday Morning/Afternoon
It was that time of the year again: spring break, with its travels to far away and exotic locales! Like Brazil.
Teachers and students had been asked to assemble at the causeway as per usual. Their portal would be leaving early on into the afternoon, so there was plenty of time to pack up your things and hurry on down to catch it.
So, the question remained: was everyone ready for some fun in the sun? Or was there still too much bodyswappy freaking out to be done?
Stay tuned.

"If you're in the room," Warren agreed, nodding a little bit. "And the door is closed." A beat. "And the curtains are, too."
This wasn't paranoia speaking. It was life experience.
"I mean, you're going to want to stretch sometimes. I get that. I'm just sorry that your first day in Rio is going to be spent doing so much hiding."

That was not really the reply that Warren had been expecting there, no, and the mildly perplexed look on his face probably said about as much.
"Why the whole trip?"
He was going to regret asking.

"And... if we trade back, like, tomorrow or something, I can keep an eye on her," Warren pointed out. "She knows I don't want her hurting you, Topher. I'll hold her to that."
He shrugged a little bit.
"She can be scary, I won't deny that. But if we're out there in Rio, there'll be so much going on, you probably won't have to worry about seeing her even if you go to the same place for lunch or something."

Warren supposed that was fair enough. He didn't entirely know what had gone on before he and Bobby had arrived at the hotel, but it was enough that Topher had left livid, and Karla had been jumpy for the rest of the night.
"What if... I make up an itinerary of things to do with Karla while we're there. I mean, me and her, once we're all back to normal. And I just let you know where not to be? That way, you can still enjoy your vacation, and never have to worry about running into her."

"You sure?" Warren scuffed a toe against the ground again. He didn't figure they'd even be having this conversation if Topher hadn't wound up in his body in the first place. "I mean, I guess Tony is coming on the trip too, and probably Billy, and there's that whole Carnivale thing going on. It would be a shame to miss out on something like that."
Dangle that carrot, Warren. Dangle it.

"...oh," he said, very slowly. Huh. "Um."
no subject
"Besides," Warren continued, shrugging, "Rio de Janiero? Way more than just Carnivale going on. They've got the seventh largest library in the world, a natural history museum, botanic gardens... It would be a shame to go all the way there and then miss out on all of that."

"Oh? I didn't know that," Warren replied, smiling faintly. "Would you believe I've only ever been to a planetarium once in my lifetime? And that was during classtime, so it wasn't like there were any stars out to see from the observatory. I remember I left wanting to get a telescope, but I never really did get around to it."

Warren's eyes might have gone a little wider at that. That was... definitely a lot of stars, granted.
"Well, I wouldn't want to go to something like that on my own..."
Whoever could he possibly coerce out of his room and away from his video games for the occasion?

"Hey, now there's an idea." Sneaky, sneaky Warren. "Would you mind coming with me to the planetarium, Topher? I mean, I know you had a long week of gaming in mind and all, but I could really use someone who knows his way around the constellations, since I don't exactly speak Portuguese."
no subject
He was so easy.
no subject
Truly the easiest.
"Great!" See how great it was, Topher? Warren was even managing something like a smile right now, in spite of your stupid heavy bones. "Maybe once Carnivale wears down a little, so we don't get trampled on the way there. Or if we go at night, we could probably even fly there."
Warren was kind of at that point in his withdrawls where he couldn't stop thinking about it, okay?

Now there was a statement that Warren needed to take a moment to parse. Because wow, Topher. Wow.
"... Well, I'd probably be carrying you," he allowed, "but in my arms, not on my back. Less feather control that way, if you're up there pressing them down, you know?"

Funny thing! So did Warren!
"Well, then it looks like we have a plan," Warren replied, smiling faintly. A happy Topher made for a less worried Warren, at least. "If the Planetarium goes well, we could probably check out some of the other science stuff in the city while we're there, too."
Since he knew that was right up Topher's alley.
