The Beach, Friday Evening

It hadn't taken long for word to spread regarding the removal of the rabbits, gizkas, protopets... and most importantly, the School Board and the Howells.

The lack of needing to pretend they were a Perfectly Ordinary Boarding School meant that the uniforms could had to be disposed of.

In a bonfire, naturally.

It being a bonfire, naturally there are s'mores fixings, hotdogs, drinks, and all that good stuff available. Or you could just talk to your friends!

Annie wasn't going to burn her uniform. She'd donate it, figuring that someone somewhere might be able to use it. But since she'd quickly moved her things back to her room and changed into jeans, wonderful jeans, she was feeling altogether more comfortable.

Cara wasn't much for mingling, but she also wanted this thing destroyed as quickly as possible. So she showed up with her uniform bundled under her arm.

Yeah, Toby'd grabbed himself some marshmallows and was setting to work on making some s'mores. The inevitable sugar rush was definitely welcome.

Was Gabrielle glad to go back to her usual attire? Absolutely. Therefore, she was rocking the braided leather (sai tucked into her boot laces since she'd just come up the beach from where she'd been practicing) and a much more relaxed smile than she'd gotten to sport all week.

. . . and a couple of bunnies on a spit. What?

Oh, a uniform bonfire. How quaint. Wonder where they could have possibly gotten the idea....

But Britta wasn't bitter, no. She was just definitely planning to glare at anyone who yelled at her if they showed up here and she was going to maybe sulk a little as she chomped on some carrot.

Well, she might glare. She actually wasn't sure who had been yelling at her from the school building, but still.

Topher didn't care about the loss of the uniforms one way or another, really, but he was here for the food. He sat on a log with a huge plate of food, experimentally offering some every so often to the fox that was sitting not far from him.

The fox -- well. The fox responded by eyerolling heartily and occasionally nudging Topher's hand out of the way so he could get to the plate himself, thank you very much.

Don't mind Miley as she danced and bopped around a little bit with glee at getting to wear normal clothes again.

Or do mind, but it wasn't going to stop her from doing it.

Bruce's uniform was currently on a mannequin in the cave because God forbid he ever just ditch an alternate costume of any sort. And then he had the gall to show up at the bonfire wearing slacks and a sweater vest, although they were much higher quality and looked better than the school outfit. If this ever happened again, he'd have to get people in touch with the people who did his clothes. He'd even fund that himself.

But still, he enjoyed watching the delight of his fellow students at the end of the school year from his position off to the side. There wouldn't be many more moments like this for him, so he was choosing to take it in while he could.

Rebecca hadn't been that bothered by the outfit, really -- she'd had it tailored to her satisfaction largely just to make a point, but overall didn't feel too strongly about it either way -- but it was nice to get out into a vaguely party-like atmosphere. Yeah, it was non-alcoholic and cutesy and kind of lame, but on this particular instance she didn't actually loathe it on sight. Funny, that.

Firekeeper and Blind Seer were definitely pleased that the latter was no longer required to hang out in the Preserve.

...Not that he minded spending time out there- it was more or less his natural habitat. But having to hide rankled his pride somewhat.

Firekeeper was taking a page out of Ben's book and was roasting a gizka, while Blind Seer- well, he didn't require his meat cooked, let's put it that way.

Petra wasn't sure they should roast stuff in that bonfire. The polyester was probably giving off toxic fumes. But she was happy to grab a soda to sip and a piece of chocolate to nibble on.

Beach bonfires weren't exactly high on the list of things that DNA-inhanced perfect warrior bounty hunters in space suits did in their spare time, it was true. But Gardner had pestered Samus about her "lack of socializing" until she agreed to come with him.

Lack of socializing. Right. She was sure it had nothing to do with him just being awkward coming to this impromptu party by himself in general. She was willing to let it seem like he was doing this for her sake, though, it it helped him sleep better at night.

Though she was glad to be able to wear the Power Suit again, Samus actually went with the Zero Suit, because she figured it was BYOB and it was a lot easier to drink without a helmet. Priorities, people.

Jaye threw her uniform on the fire with a flourish. Like, she'd been looking forward to this moment since they handed the things out.

And now that it was done, she was sort of disappointed, like they should have given her more horrible clothing pieces to burn or something.

Let's just say that, for all the people who yelled at Britta about polyester not being able to burn, there were plenty of organic things that would burn on her uniform after Britta had finished with them when her own little uniform bonfire had failed.

"Now that's what I'm talkin' about."

But her voice did lift up with a glance around those gathered, as she pointedly reminded them, "Although we could have done this earlier this week if anyone around here had any cajones."

Oh, thank God.

Quinn was dressed in t-shirt and a pair of blessedly-not-plaid capris as she consigned the ball of polyester to the flames. This was turning out to be an excellent close to her last week of high school classes.
