2012 New Year's Eve Party, Town Hall [after dark, naturally]

Eric would have hosted the New Year's Eve party at the Devil's Nest, but he suspected that the students wouldn't appreciate his "no, no alcohol for you" stance and here in a different venue, he could avoid some of the liability. (Eric hadn't lived a thousand years by being a very stupid vampire.)

The ballroom was decked out far more classily than it had for school dances in shades of cream, silver, and black: there were sumptuous fabrics draped to soften the room , gilt mirrors to add light, and sparkling crystal because Eric liked expensive crystal. For those who ate, there was top shelf alcohol, more than enough champagne and all kinds of fancy appetizers (and pigs in blankets because shut up). For those who didn't eat, well, the bartenders wouldn't be suprised for requests of O Positive.

The DJ was playing the top 40 hits of the year, but could be persuaded to play anything that wasn't Justin Bieber (Eric had glamoured the hell out of him had a Talk with him, and now as far as the DJ knew, Justin Bieber didn't exist).

Happy New Year's Eve, Fandom. Put on your tuxedo and come party with a vampire.

The upside to being British and-- well-- a night person, was that you could easily celebrate New Years with your friends back home and then get onto a portal to Fandom right after.

Well, Kaidan was wearing his Alliance dress uniform - that was fancy. Or at least as fancy as he was willing to get.

Mind, the only reason he was really here was that he was pretty sure that was expected of him. Large crowds always left him feeling more than a little lost.

Korra's good clothes were back in her word and she was used to celebrating the new year closer to spring, but that didn't mean she wasn't prepared for a good time.

Liara had a formal dress in her stack of human clothes. All right, this one was navy blue and so didn't really make her stick out, per se, but she liked it that way.

Human dances were awkward enough as it was.

Jim wasn't gonna miss any party if he could help it let alone one that would probably go on till the early hours of tomorrow morning. And if there were drinks involved, all the better.

That prospect meant comfortable clothes because he wasn't gonna shove himself in a suit and tie unless he absolutely had to. And tonight, he didn't have to.

For the second time this year when she'd been in her right mind, Jessica was wearing a dress (http://www.simplydresses.com/shop/viewitem-PD944516). She realized that at some point she was going to need to go shopping with her friends so that she didn't get overwhelmed at the store every time and just end up going for the first black dress with some kind of sleeve she could find every single time, but she thought this was still okay for now. Really, people should just be proud that she was choosing to wear a dress at all for the second time ever.

Due to temporal weirdness, this was not only New Year's Eve in Fandom, it was also Bruce's 20th birthday in February. Don't ask how, just enjoy the fact that the birthday boy was going to find a way to pay for drinks, even if there was an open bar, and he was going to do it while wearing a very nice suit.

Because that's what billionaire playboys celebrating birthdays did.

Yeul had not realized that dressing up was something that should be done and, once she was there, saw little reason to go and change out of her usual clothing.

After all, her usual clothes had been good enough for pretty much everything for a very long time.

Allie had been advised that she might want to dress up a bit for the night so she'd done a little shopping.

Instead of her usual black jeans and dark t-shirt, she was wearing black slacks and a dark blouse. Baby steps.

Kitty's dress was't very fancy, but it was downright conservative for her! She was also busy being a little impressed that she didn't see any gremlins playing DJ for the night or anything because that's what this place had done to her by now.

Sia had had to look this particular holiday up to even know what it was, and decided that it didn't sound nearly as stupid as a lot of the others on this planet. So fine, she could get dressed up and stay up till midnight.

Jaina had gotten back to town this morning, had handwavily been way busier over the holidays than she had expected, and so guess what, today was going to involve a dress she'd worn before.

She also made a point to get a glass of champagne the first chance she got, mostly to give herself something to do with her hands.

Victor was proud of himself for putting on a suit. He hadn't really been that social since getting back to the island a few days before; it was nice to have an event to get him out of his room and away from his computer.

He paused to survey the room. The decor was nice and all, but his first stop was likely to be the pigs in blankets.
