"No." Bo crossed her arms behind the bar and ignored the balloon Tiny was holding out to her. "I already told you my terms. The whole thing or no deal."

Tiny held up his phone in the other hand, then made a show of putting it away. Bo just shook her head.

"No. I don't care if you record me. I'm just not doing it without the quid pro quo." She reached out and bopped the balloon lightly. "Every. Single. Verse."

Which was why anyone visiting the bar tonight, including the guests at Warren and Karla's birthday party, would find themselves treated to a high-pitched -- and very long -- performance of I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General from the huge guy in the leather vest.

Bo's performance, they'd have to be very good at searching YouTube (or know Tiny's username) to find, and also fast enough to get there before Bo filed the fake DMCA takedown notice. Or the obscenity one. She was still trying to decide which seemed more likely coming from Disney.

"Not even a little bit," Warren laughed, mantling his wings slightly as he clutched the book to his chest. "We all know how well I share."

"I guess, though, since it's your birthday party too, you can sneak the littlest, tiniest peek," Karla teased. "But just remember, this is a party and I'm not getting dragged off anywhere before we close it down."

"But what if that's my birthday present to you?"

It wasn't. Warren was wearing a little smirk that said about as much. But it had to be put out there, all the same.

"Better not be," she threatened. "Considering that's also your Wednesday gift to me, your good morning gift to me, and your it's too cold for flying gift for me."

"And I haven't heard you complain about any of those presents yet," Warren pointed out, smirking. "Or are you telling me I should stop getting you presents too commemorate days when it's too cold to fly?"

Yes. 'Presents.'

"Considering it's mid-summer back home, you may need to update your presents anyway," Karla pointed out. "Or are you telling me I have to wait until winter to get spoiled again?"

"Hardly. We still have Wednesdays and mornings," Warren pointed out. "And there are no rules against spontaneous gifting, either."

Which he did. Often.

"True," Karla conceded, wrapping her arms around his waist and leaning her face up for a birthday kiss. "Though I may still institute 'too hot to work' gifting celebrations."

Beat.

"In your office."

Beat.

"On your desk."

"... It's like my birthday every day, when it's too hot to work. I approve."

Warren leaned down for that kiss, folding his wings around her and pulling her close.

"I'll probably manage not to hum 'happy birthday' next time I find you on my desk."

"That still doesn't make it an acceptable birthday gift," she laughed, resting her cheek on his shoulder. "Just so we're clear on that."

"Fine, fine," Warren chuckled, and then reached into his pocket and pulled out... well... an envelope, holding it out to her. "It's no herd of cattle, this year. But I thought you might enjoy it."

It was a certificate saying that private baking lessons being hosted by a baker in Sidra had been paid for. Because Warren was actually a terrible person.

... Who was well aware that he'd probably end up having to dispose of everything Karla made.

Everyone was going to hate him. So much.

Not Karla, though. She was clutching the certificate to her chest and looking up at him with a tremulous smile.

"Really? You did this for me? Really?"

Best fiancé!

Karla had no idea.

"For you," Warren replied, smiling back. He was going to hurt for this later, yes, but the way she looked right then? Made it completely worthwhile. "I mean, I know how much you enjoy baking, and Cook is a little touchy about who goes into her kitchen..."

Or who blows her kitchen up.

Warren had already informed the baker, to the man's utmost confusion, that he'd pay him back double any damages. And had asked what the building was worth. So.

Smart male. Well, as smart as any male could lay claim to being who'd just handed Karla a certificate for baking.

"When can I start?"

...Though he probably should have gotten estimates for the surrounding businesses, too. Just saying.

"As soon as you like," Warren replied. "I left it open so that we can double-check what's on your schedule for the foreseeable future, and then make arrangements around that."

Warren would take care of any structural damage to neighboring businesses as it happened. It had seemed like a bad idea to go announcing that the Queen was going to be there for everyone in Sidra to hear.

"I'm gonna learn to ba~ake! I'm gonna learn to ba~ake!" Karla squealed, jumping up and down. "And I'll make delicious desserts and bring them home and then everyone will see that I'm good at it, yay!"

It was entirely possible that even people who didn't want to assassinate the landen Consort were going to be having thoughts about doing so, soon.

"So, you like it?"

For now, Warren was mostly just secure in the fact that Karla was happy, and he was difficult to kill.

"Very, very, very happy," Karla informed him, before peppering his face with kisses. "You're the best ever and I love you."

Winking, she added, "That's totally worth a sneak peek at the book."

This book was forever going to serve as a very sexy reminder to the evil that Warren had unleashed upon all of Kaeleer. He was even making that mental note as he flipped the book open for that sneak peek.

And then smirked.

"Is this your little book of shameless teasing?"

"Not at all," Karla said, looking up from under her lashes. "It's your little book of shameless teasing. And Karla-appreciation, of course."
