Bo Jones. Or maybe Dennis. ([personal profile] nookiepowered) wrote in [community profile] fandomtownies2014-04-12 05:34 pm

The Devil's Nest, Saturday, April 12th

"No." Bo crossed her arms behind the bar and ignored the balloon Tiny was holding out to her. "I already told you my terms. The whole thing or no deal."

Tiny held up his phone in the other hand, then made a show of putting it away. Bo just shook her head.

"No. I don't care if you record me. I'm just not doing it without the quid pro quo." She reached out and bopped the balloon lightly. "Every. Single. Verse."

Which was why anyone visiting the bar tonight, including the guests at Warren and Karla's birthday party, would find themselves treated to a high-pitched -- and very long -- performance of I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General from the huge guy in the leather vest.

Bo's performance, they'd have to be very good at searching YouTube (or know Tiny's username) to find, and also fast enough to get there before Bo filed the fake DMCA takedown notice. Or the obscenity one. She was still trying to decide which seemed more likely coming from Disney.

[Open! Karla and Warren's birthday party be happenin' in the VIP area; the rest of the joint is open to anyone.]

"Okay," Momoko had to agree. "That does sound kind of exciting. You'll have to tell me when you get the part."

...

"Did you have anything weird happen to you the past week or so?"

Robin had heard there was some fandom stuff that had happened, but didn't know the details. "Uhm, no, not weird. Some unexpected uh...roadblocks I guess you could say, but not really weird."

"Roadblocks?" Momoko frowned. Robin didn't usually have roadblocks. He was the frog version of Momoko herself!

"Well Uncle Kermit started writing another movie script, sort of like what the Muppets did with Christmas Carol, this one is based on Treasure Island. He told me he wanted me as the lead, but the studio is insisting on a human for the role." And according to Kermit, they were being seriously obstinate about it.

"And a casting director told me that I'd be hard to cast in big theater productions because I'm so small, most of the people in the audience wouldn't be able to see me."

He hadn't wanted to burden her with all this, but it did feel good to get it off his chest.

"First," Momoko folded her arms and glared at him. "If Mr Kermit is giving you the role simply because of who you are, you don't want it anyway. You deserve roles you earn, not hand-me-down freebies."

"And second, if the studio is insisting Mr Kermit change his script, that's Mr Kermit's problem. He can fight it or agree with it, but that's his business. Second and a half, that sort of thing happens all the time, you're just close enough to the writer that you're hearing about it early." HOW many rumours of the cast of the new Black Bullet sentai series had she heard now?

She bent to look Robin square in the eyes. "And third, you are short. Obviously not too short, since you got accepted to the school and you've been in some productions. You'll just have to learn to work around it."

Robin had thought, that he had come to accept the realities of his size. Then every now and then something would happen that would make him feel like he had when he was younger. Very self conscious and limited.

It was rare that anyone was as up-front and blunt with a Muppet as Momoko had just been. Muppets almost never were with each other. They were very emotional creatures, given to hysterics, and possibly just a bit bi-polar at times.

It was a very good thing that Momoko and Robin were as close as they were, or he would have likely felt very stung indeed. As it was, he was shaken. Everything she'd said was true, but he was going to need a moment to get past the shock and process what she was really saying.

Robin, meet tough love.

For an actor, Robin had a totally horrible poker face.

Momoko reached out to pull her sad friend into a hug. "Robin! It's not bad!"

"It's hard sometimes." he said finally. "Even for a Muppet I'm short, and I guess my biggest insecurity is that my size makes me insignificant."

One of the nice things about Muppets of course is that they tend to bounce back from things pretty quickly. A pep talk, or song, or even just a hug could usually repair any damages.

"That's silly," Momoko's tone was sympathetic and loving, if a bit stern. "Everyone's shorter than someone. You just have to be bigger than them at everything else. And you totally are!"

Hmm, well it was possible that Pepe was shorter than Robin.

"Thanks." the wee Frog said, cheering a bit. "You're a great friend, you know that?"

Momoko pulled him into another hug. "I'm also totally your number one fan, so don't give up! I want to be able to say I went to school with you and have people be jealous."

Even when one of his biggest roles might be a blockbuster trilogy you consider boring? Not to worry, it would be a Muppet thing so all the walky parts would have songs and jokes.

Hey now! She buys it and lets the kids watch it twenty times a day and doesn't claw her eyes out! Because no matter how many jokes and songs and chickens you add, it was still a boring story without mechas.

Now i'm totally imagining LotR with Mechs instead of Ents.
