Bo Jones. Or maybe Dennis. ([personal profile] nookiepowered) wrote in [community profile] fandomtownies2014-04-12 05:34 pm

The Devil's Nest, Saturday, April 12th

"No." Bo crossed her arms behind the bar and ignored the balloon Tiny was holding out to her. "I already told you my terms. The whole thing or no deal."

Tiny held up his phone in the other hand, then made a show of putting it away. Bo just shook her head.

"No. I don't care if you record me. I'm just not doing it without the quid pro quo." She reached out and bopped the balloon lightly. "Every. Single. Verse."

Which was why anyone visiting the bar tonight, including the guests at Warren and Karla's birthday party, would find themselves treated to a high-pitched -- and very long -- performance of I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General from the huge guy in the leather vest.

Bo's performance, they'd have to be very good at searching YouTube (or know Tiny's username) to find, and also fast enough to get there before Bo filed the fake DMCA takedown notice. Or the obscenity one. She was still trying to decide which seemed more likely coming from Disney.

[Open! Karla and Warren's birthday party be happenin' in the VIP area; the rest of the joint is open to anyone.]

"I'm going to take your word for it," she assured him, since Karla wouldn't know country music if it bit her on the ankle. "There's a large, err, banjo part?"

"Mostly in the overture. Unless that was just in the recording I heard. I don't know for certain it'll make much difference. But when I read the book I always had banjo music in my head."

Huck totally would have played banjo.

"So, you auditioned for the lead?" Karla asked, settling down in a chair. "Or a supporting cast part? Ooh and did your girlfriend try out, too?"

Errr, did Robin still have a girlfriend? That would probably have been the better question to start with. Oops.

He did.

"The lead, Huckleberry Flynn. The musical's based on an adventure/coming of age story by Mark Twain. Anastasia tried out for the female lead. She kinda got excited when she found out a lot of the time that character is in mourning. I told you she was Goth right?"

"I don't think so," Karla said, puzzled. "What does that mean, exactly?"

Fandom hadn't really broken down the traditional student caste lines.

Oh wow, now Robin, cheery sort that he was got to try to explain Goth. If only Abby were still around.

"Goths have a kind of...er, morbid...no, not morbid exactly. Well they like to dress in black, sometimes anachronistic clothes, and...they're sort of like punks, only they're more gloomy than angry." Did that help?
