Cinco de Mayo party- Caritas- Tuesday

With the new semester and new people on island, and also a holiday that just so happened to fall on Kitty's shift, those were as good excuses as any for a party. Plus they got to do so with margaritas and nachos, and who didn't like margaritas and nachos?

Tino was at the bar if anyone just wanted to hang out there, but the back room was where the people were. Hopefully. Shut up, Kitty totally still didn't get paranoid no one would show up, really.

Please, PLEASE someone get drunk enough to sing Margaritaville.

Where Tino is there to be modded.

In case the bar or the party are not your thing.

Where there are snacks and drinks and you can do the mingling thing.

Let's face it, this would be a Revenge of the Fifth party if I could work out the meta in time.

Tamsin didn't exactly care what holiday it was. And, okay, too bad this wasn't a karaoke party or whatever, but who cared? There were margaritas.

If you thought she grabbed a full pitcher upon arrival and would be making her way through it as the night went on: congratulations. You'd met Tamsin.

"All right, let's get this party started. Or whatever."

"Why is it that every time I come here just to have a drink, there's a party?" Atton muttered.

Okay, that was a minor exaggeration.

... That was a huge exaggeration.

But he was tired, cut him a break. Or, well, he could at least grab himself a drink that didn't taste like rancor ass.

"You definitely seem ready for it," Kitty said, noticing the pitcher.

Irene was not about to dress up for Cinco de Mayo (because she was far too petite to manage a sombrero without embarrassing herself -- but more power to anyone who tried) -- but she did at least wear a bright color (http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/escada-dress-dondi-ruched?ID=1290794&CategoryID=21683&LinkType=#fn=spp%3D38%26ppp%3D96%26sp%3DNull%26rid%3DNull)! For a woman who loved her blacks and whites, this was a big deal, okay?

In any case, she got herself a margarita, and wondered why Americans were so insistent on creating holidays around drinking. They'd save on streamers and the like if they just owned up to wanting to get blitzed on a Tuesday. Tsk.

"Because we're awesome like that?"

Really, that was the only reasonable answer Kitty could give.

Tamsin shrugged. "Why keep going back for refills when you can just get a really big glass?" she said. "What's up?"

"You dressed up," Kitty teased.

Atton let out a snort. "That's one way of looking at it," he said. "But hey, there's food, I guess I can't complain."

Too much.

"Hey, look at you all in technicolor," Tamsin called.

And then she threw in an only halfway sarcastic wolf-whistle, just because she could.

"It's apparently a holiday I didn't know about," Irene said, lifting a brow. "Festive colors seemed in order."

"Hostessing," Kitty replied. "What's up with you?"

"See, this is why it's fun to hang out with us. We have the important stuff," she said.

"Well, I was bored out of my skull, and then I found out someone was hosting a party around here," Tamsin said, taking a sip from a straw she'd put in the pitcher. "Why don't we have more parties? I mean, this island is like 50% irresponsible teenagers, 50% adults who have to deal with irresponsible teenagers all the time."

"Well, you look great," Kitty said. "And welcome to America, where we're totally cool with appropriating cultural holidays for an excuse to drink."

"I didn't know what else one wore to a party celebrating the fifth of May," Irene admitted with a grin. "So I figured spring colors were a safe bet? I'll match all the girly flavors of margaritas, or something."

"Food and booze," Atton said, snatching up some nachos. "That's the, what do you call it-- pyramid of needs, right?"

"There's always bright green and bright blue, but I think that's a stereotype or something," Tamsin said, unabashedly sipping her girly margarita from the pitcher through a straw. "What's up?"

"I think by saying that you just called it on throwing the next one," Kitty pointed out.

"Hierarchy of needs," Kitty said. "And you're right, those are right up there."

She wasn't sure about the booze, but she ran a bar, so.

"I still have some alcohol left over from the last time I threw one," Tamsin mused.

She was undecided on whether that meant she should wait until she was completely out so she could throw another BYOB party, or redistribute it, or something.

... She got paid better now. She was still getting used to it.
