The Beach, Wednesday Evening

It was the end of the term. A bunch of people Dante knew were leaving. Others were staying, but they still deserved a decent send-off to the summer. Besides, screw it, they'd all earned a distraction. So after sending text messages to a whole bunch of people on the island, Dante pulled on a pair of black and red swim trunks (hey, Isabela had asked), bought a cheap one-use barbecue... thing and a ton of meat, and made his way down to the beach.

Picked up a lost volleyball on the way, too.

And okay, if he could rope someone else into manning the barbecue, he would. But right now, he'd set it up, get a nice fire going, and then fantasize about Iz and Ada playing beach volleyball.

Of course Isabela was there, she'd been promised swim-trunks, and while she hadn't yet weaponised her breasts more gone for the bikini, it wasn't like her normal clothes left much to the imagination.

The best thing about beach parties was the view of everyone in their beach attire, and so Roscoe had chosen to make everyone's party a little nicer by showing up in a pair of bright pink swim trunks with the word "BEST" written across the butt. He didn't really care what it said, the point was that it said something and people would be reading his ass.

Naturally, he sprawled out face-down on a towel to show off. And get a good look at everyone else, duh.

Hey, beach. Sparkle wasn't really here to sunbathe so much as he was here to just get the hell out of the apartment, so he'd staked out a spot downwind of everybody, setting his towel down, making himself comfortable, and having himself a smoke.

... It was probably not tobacco. But again, there was a reason he'd set up downwind. He could be a courteous Canadian smoking questionable foliage in broad daylight if he really put his mind to it.

Yeah, he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts today, and hadn't bothered with the make-up this morning. Maybe he'd consider getting into the water if it wasn't, like, stupidly cold or anything. That would all depend on whether or not somebody attempted to coerce him into doing so.

Ada showed up actually in a bikini. Red, to be precise, with her usual body glitter, and with a saraong knotted around her waist to hide the scales on her legs for the walk through town, and until everyone had had a bit to drink and/or enough sand was being kicked up to be distracting and/or it was dark enough they might not be seen.

Not everyone was safe. Thank you, Mr. Cecil, for reminding her of that.

She was just going to set her towel down as far away from the water as she could get and still be part of the party, and start putting on tanning lotion. There was sun, and Ada intended to take full advantage of it.

Ezra's idea of beach attire seemed to be more or less his usual look, but with his white shirt hanging open, unbuttoned. And he was barefoot.

The first order of business had been to grab some meat. Couldn't fault a fox for that. Or the littel smirk with which he watched the gathered crowd while he was enjoying it.

Ringo's bikini was a light purple one, a pretty close match for the shade of her eyes. Barefoot on the beach she could feel the sand squish between her toes, and it felt sort of weird. Not being on ATs was always a bit of an odd feeling, but it was doubly odd when she was outside in such great weather.

Still, it wasn't like Ringo didn't know how to have fun without AirTrek, so she was looking around with a grin, trying to decide what the first order of business was for her.

Ahsoka didn't have any kind of swimwear on, because she'd actually come to the beach to meditate and was now standing awkwardly in the no-man's-land between obviously part of the gathering and obviously not.

Parties and casual gatherings, one of the more hit and miss areas of her experience.

Anders, dressed in swim shorts and a t-shirt, waded out just far enough for the waves to lick his knees and stood there, enjoying the rush of the water around him. He laughed and swore when one unexpectedly crashed over his chest instead.

It was not arriving so much as happening to wander by and notice that there was a gathering of people there, and so lingering out of curiosity, but Merrill found herself a spot on the edge of the party where she could sit and watch the people and the waves.

It was cute how she'd tried to sit down carefully to avoid getting sand in uncomfortable places.

What, did you think she was getting into the water? When it came to the ocean, that only happened on accident.

Hyacinthe had returned from his trip to Terre D'Ange that I'm going to post, I swear and was wandering though the streets that still looked comfortingly familiar. That wandering had taken him past the beach and lo, what should he see?

A bunch of very pretty people converged there. Along with the scent of something delicious cooking. He could return back to his dorm in awhile. This looked far more interesting!

Barbecue!

A respectable distance away from the water (but still no the sand), there's the barbecue set and the meat and a ton of cheap plastic plates and cutlery. Grab some handwavey meatstuffs and find somewhere to sit down! Hang out. That sort of thing.

Beach Volleyball!

It'd be a shame to not play a round, right?

After dinner, Dante's found another way to set things on fire. Some driftwood and a bunch of rocks makes for a firepit for everyone to hang out around, now that the sky is going dark and the sun is gone.

Wrap yourself in one of those towels. Gather around the fire. Have a little communal hangout time.

Dante snagged a bottle of beer from the cooler he'd brought with him. Usually not his drink of choice, but it would do for tonight.

He sat down by the fire and stretched his legs out.

Xanthippe was wrapped up in her oversized flannel shirt, not a towel, but it was still a pretty perfect by-the-firepit look.

Her cup was still non-alcoholic. She'd still say it wasn't.

The glowing fire pit with the setting sun in the background was just too cozy. Like Sparkle, Roscoe couldn't resist setting up on the outskirts of the circle to light the joint he'd had tucked in a velcro pocket of his swim trunks. He'd put it out if someone asked him to, but for now he was enjoying the warmth of the fire pit and being around people he liked. Besides, this was how beach parties back in LA had always ended.

If anyone looked at him like they might want to share, he offered it out to them. He was a generous guy.

Because what was tastier than sugar on fire, smashed between chocolate and graham crackers?
