3 MINUTE DATES

Unlike most 3MDs, there didn't seem to be a host. The zombies were just set up, all quiet, when the lights went out.

After a few moments, music started to play. A man's voice started to sing "Ooooooooh" while backing vocals repeated "come on."

The first chorus played before a voice that might have been familiar to longtime residents came up and completely failed to introduce himself. "Welcome to Three Minute Dates. I gave this CD to Tino years ago, just in case this thing I started turned a sexy, legal to drink in the rest of the country 21. In honor of that, have an open bar, courtesy of me, to make sure my name is never forgotten. When somebody reads your names or whatever happens, pair up, get drunk, and let those beer goggles take over for three minutes until this sound plays."

The song cued back up, singing, "You're hopelessly HOPELEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!" It was, perhaps, a mixed message.

"Have fun. And try not to bang too many people at once, like I'm definitely doing right now."

Finally the lights came back on. Jessica turned to Tino at the bar, taking a free drink, and asked, "Who was that?" Tino just shrugged. He clearly knew, but he was admitting to nothing.

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

OCD starts now. If I fall asleep before it's done, don't mind me. I'll finish up when I wake up. ETA: That's happening. Final 2 rounds posted when I wake up. Feel free to start on the first 3 rounds now. FINALLY DONE!

If I made a blatant mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. Remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish things up on Sunday, that's fine.

Hey, at least this was someone Thorin had met! Even if they were, regrettably, a Man.

"Khadgar, yes?" It sounded like some bullshit name you'd hear in Rohan, Khadgar.

Right, because Thorin was totally a normal name that didn't sound like a god or anything. "That's right, we met at the picnic. How have you been? This place has been even more full of surprises than I was warned about."

HOW DARE YOU. IT WAS WELL WITHIN DWARVEN NAMING TRADITIONS.

Thorin broke into a smile at that. "Yes, it seems to enjoy surprising us. This evening is one such surprise."

"Indeed. But it seems fun, especially if people have more to drink than they should," Khadgar said. "And it's nice to get to meet new people."

The "date" part hadn't escaped him, but he wasn't sure if bringing that up with Thorin would be welcome.

HE WAS TOO YOUNG FOR SUCH MATTERS. MEN WERE WEIRD. SO WEIRD.

"How have you found the island so far?"

"My classes are mostly helpful, and my roommate is kind. I could certainly be experiencing much worse things. Although, I heard something about people coming to visit next weekend?" he said uncertainly. "No one seems happy about it. Do you think you might have visitors?"

"I have not in my time here." Because Gandalf was a jerk and didn't actually talk to him. "And yourself?"

"I sincerely doubt it. I don't think anyone even knows where I am. I'm trying to keep it that way," Khadgar said. If he told himself that enough, he could almost believe it. "We might be better off."

"You have no family to return to?" Thorin asked with a frown.

"No family who would wish to see me," Khadgar said, shrugging to try to suggest that wasn't a big deal. "But that means fewer people to try to explain the oddities of this place to, yes?"

Watch Thorin frown even more, Khadgar. Because that wasn't cool at all of Khadgar's family.

The buzzer sounded midway through those frowns. "We shall have to speak again."

Khadgar felt bad about making Thorin frown, and gave him a soft smile. "I would like that very much, thank you."
