A sign was posted at the front door:

3 MINUTE DATES

Unlike most 3MDs, there didn't seem to be a host. The zombies were just set up, all quiet, when the lights went out.

After a few moments, music started to play. A man's voice started to sing "Ooooooooh" while backing vocals repeated "come on."

The first chorus played before a voice that might have been familiar to longtime residents came up and completely failed to introduce himself. "Welcome to Three Minute Dates. I gave this CD to Tino years ago, just in case this thing I started turned a sexy, legal to drink in the rest of the country 21. In honor of that, have an open bar, courtesy of me, to make sure my name is never forgotten. When somebody reads your names or whatever happens, pair up, get drunk, and let those beer goggles take over for three minutes until this sound plays."

The song cued back up, singing, "You're hopelessly HOPELEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!" It was, perhaps, a mixed message.

"Have fun. And try not to bang too many people at once, like I'm definitely doing right now."

Finally the lights came back on. Jessica turned to Tino at the bar, taking a free drink, and asked, "Who was that?" Tino just shrugged. He clearly knew, but he was admitting to nothing.

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

OCD starts now. If I fall asleep before it's done, don't mind me. I'll finish up when I wake up. ETA: That's happening. Final 2 rounds posted when I wake up. Feel free to start on the first 3 rounds now. FINALLY DONE!

If I made a blatant mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. Remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish things up on Sunday, that's fine.

For most people, carrying three cocktails across a crowded room might suggest some problems, either in terms of balance or dependency. But Frank had no trouble carrying them, and it was more of an active lifestyle choice than anything.

He found a seat, drank one of his drinks, and nodded in the direction of his presumed date. "How have you been so far tonight?" It was probably safe to assume he was talking to Ahsoka and not his drink.

Was it? Was it really safe to assume that?

"Did you bring over three drinks?" Ahsoka asked instead of answering Frank's question. Especially given the number of drinks she'd had so far was none.

"I've decided to match the number of drinks to the round. It may be a challenge, but it's one I'm willing to take on," Frank explained. And yes, that meant that he was already three drinks in. Well, four after that one he started the round with. Four point two five after the sip he just took of another one.

"That seems like it'd be bad for your liver." Frank was human, right? He seemed human.

"You can't know how strong your liver really is unless you push it to its limits sometimes," Frank said. "Fortunately, I've pushed mine WAY past this without any issues many times, so I know that I'm well within the limits."

Ahsoka was pretty sure livers didn't work like that. "If you say so."

Maybe not most livers, but Frank's was special. And saturated as Frank finished his second drink. "I do, more frequently than I ever imagined I would have to. You wouldn't believe how many people here have an interest in my liver."

"I think you'd be surprised about what I'd believe." Especially if he drank like that all the time.

"Maybe a little. I don't find other people's beliefs to be interesting enough to be too surprised by them, though, unless the affect me in a real way," Frank said. "Oops, round's almost over!" Frank started - and finished - his third drink.

Ahsoka was saved from having to reply by the timer going off, which was handy since she was still kind of boggled by the whole three drinks in three minutes part.
