3 MINUTE DATES

Unlike most 3MDs, there didn't seem to be a host. The zombies were just set up, all quiet, when the lights went out.

After a few moments, music started to play. A man's voice started to sing "Ooooooooh" while backing vocals repeated "come on."

The first chorus played before a voice that might have been familiar to longtime residents came up and completely failed to introduce himself. "Welcome to Three Minute Dates. I gave this CD to Tino years ago, just in case this thing I started turned a sexy, legal to drink in the rest of the country 21. In honor of that, have an open bar, courtesy of me, to make sure my name is never forgotten. When somebody reads your names or whatever happens, pair up, get drunk, and let those beer goggles take over for three minutes until this sound plays."

The song cued back up, singing, "You're hopelessly HOPELEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!" It was, perhaps, a mixed message.

"Have fun. And try not to bang too many people at once, like I'm definitely doing right now."

Finally the lights came back on. Jessica turned to Tino at the bar, taking a free drink, and asked, "Who was that?" Tino just shrugged. He clearly knew, but he was admitting to nothing.

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

OCD starts now. If I fall asleep before it's done, don't mind me. I'll finish up when I wake up. ETA: That's happening. Final 2 rounds posted when I wake up. Feel free to start on the first 3 rounds now. FINALLY DONE!

If I made a blatant mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. Remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish things up on Sunday, that's fine.

"Relatively new, yeah," Kanan confirmed, nodding. "I arrived at the start of the summer, and I've been... well... I suppose 'stuck' isn't the most flattering word to use, but yeah. I've been stuck here since. I wasn't intending to stick around as long as I have."

He hadn't been intending to come here in the first place. See how well that worked out for him?

"This place tends to pull you in," Tony said, making a bit of a face. "I was only going to be here as a little sabbatical from work."

Oh, Tony. Like that was ever gonna happen.

"And I wound up here on my way to work. The company vehicle is still parked on top of the damn apartment I'm living in, mostly out of fuel." Serves him right, only filling up enough for a round trip from Gorse to Cynda and back, he supposed. Not that any amount of fuel that he could carry on that old junk heap could get him all the way to his own galaxy without benefit of Portalocity intervention.

... Especially since he was from that 'long time ago' that went with the 'galaxy far, far away' part. It was right there in the opening scroll.

"It hasn't been all bad, I suppose. Not that I'm a huge fan of randomly becoming a teenager again or anything like that. But for the most part, it seems quiet here."

"That hit you too?" Tony asked with a laugh. "Yeah, I'll pass next time. I was an asshole."

There was a beat before the nerd in him had to ask, "What kind of fuel?"

"Yeah, it hit me too," Kanan replied, a touch too easily. He wasn't going to touch on the kind of teen he'd been, though. His relationship with his teenaged self was... complicated. "And have you ever heard of rhydonium? Highly volatile liquid fuel? Looks a bit like liquid chromium if you spill it? Dangerous to exposed skin?"

If he kept describing the stuff, maybe they'd be able to come up with a match. It wasn't like everything they had in his own galaxy was even named the same damn thing, here.

He would have kept going too, if it wasn't for the timer. Kanan sighed. Yeah, yeah, hopeless. Thanks for that, song.

Tony tilted his head. "Doesn't sound like anything we use, but I can ask a friend."

Because Reed. Because Reed.

"If you know anybody who can give the stuff a more in-depth analysis," because Kanan had no idea what Tony did for fun in his spare time, "I could probably get you a sample. There's still a small reservoir in the ship I can siphon out. Carefully."

Because of the previous statements re: volatility and corrosive properties.

"Reed's... really good at that sort of thing," Tony assured him as the buzzer sounded. "Stop by my shop sometime, alright? Stark Industries."

"Stark Industries," Kanan echoed, and then nodded. "Will do. And good to meet you, Tony."

Even if you weren't his type.
