Caritas- Tuesday
There was a party at Caritas today, so Kitty came in early to make sure everything was properly set up. She did most of this alone, since Tino hadn't come in yet.
Right before opening he still wasn't there, and Kitty was a little worried she'd have to serve the whole party by herself.
He showed up five minutes late with Starbucks, and this might be the most Kitty had ever hated anybody.

Re: Back Room
And it was her birthday, too, so she shouldn't feel guilty about keeping those Summer Smith cocktails flowing.

Re: Back Room
Pause. Clarification.
"Not my drink as in it's mine and I'm going to drink it, but my drink as in the one I made up and named after myself."
Re: Back Room
Re: Back Room
"Thanks! I'm just glad I got a chance to come back and celebrate with everyone. Feels like I've been waiting for this one forever."

Re: Back Room
... It was possibly the first birthday present he'd ever given anybody, but that wasn't going to stop him from trying.
Even if, ah, it was a blaster pistol. That was a perfectly normal 18th birthday gift, right?
"I never claimed to be good at this," he shared, giving her a little nod hello as he stepped into the back room. "Happy birthday, Summer."
Re: Back Room
It took everything Summer had not to just go over and tackle him with a hug. She was going to be good, she was going to restrain herself, she was...
...going to say fuck it and hug him anyway. Even if it was a little awkward with the box under his arm that shouldn't be there.
"I said no presents."
She...did not sound very upset about there being a present, though.
Re: Back Room
He might've stolen it off a guy on a run back home and had been holding onto it in case he needed a backup.
Re: Back Room
"Tuning, huh?" Summer asked, latching onto that particular word as she took the box and narrowed her eyes at it. It was too big to hold the keys to something like, say, a spaceship. Sure, that was an absurd idea, but no one could accuse Summer Smith of not dreaming big.
Of course, he could have just put a small object like keys in a big box to throw her off, but a slight subtle shake revealed far too much weight and volume. Without further prompting, she set it down on a table to start opening it.
"Oh, no way! Is this real?"
She'd pull it out for a closer look, but it didn't seem to be a great idea to start waving around a gun in a bar...
Re: Back Room
Gifts were hard.
"It's real," he confirmed, shrugging. "I can go over how to maintain it and load it... sometime well after the party and you get whatever you drink tonight out of your system. I have power packs for you too, but they're at home."
There was no way he'd been about to give her a loaded weapon at a bar birthday party.

...so, no, he still hadn't figured out that Summer pretty much just invited everyone.
It seemed rude to refuse an invitation, and he hadn't actually been to the bar yet, so it seemed like a happy combination of things to get him out and about, even if birthdays seemed a little silly to him. But humans only lived a fraction of the life that Zora did...he supposed they wanted to celebrate what little bit they had as much as they could.
Re: Back Room
Summer had no idea that Sidon thought she didn't like him, nor would the idea ever cross her mind, especially since it was borne from this one time she'd yelled at him for dripping water on the carpet at a party where they weren't even really themselves anyway. She was honestly sort of glad that there was a non-human element to the party, because parties kind of felt weird without them now. Plus, being able to say there was royalty at your shindig was always a bonus.
"Thanks for coming!"
Re: Back Room
"Hi, Summer!" she greeted with a wave.
Re: Back Room
"Hera, hey!" Summer waved back, bouncing over, careful not to spill her very, very, very pink drink. "Thanks for coming!"
Re: Back Room
She held out a bag of three small, spiky fruit. "Happy birthday. I love meilooruns, but I bet they'd be great in jello, too?"
Re: Back Room
"What? You're only nineteen??"
BDG had said they had trouble with bars and Hera outside the island, but it didn't quite click just then, obviously.

Re: Back Room
Peridot was simply walking into the bar, walking up to Summer, and wrapping her arms around Summer's leg.
Summer had left. Who did that?
Re: Back Room
Awwww. She missed having a Peridot on her leg.
"Hey, Peridot," she said, grinning down, fighting the urge to just pat the top of her hair. "What's up?"
Re: Back Room
Things were so much less sparkly without Summer!
Re: Back Room
"Okay, that's fair," she said. "You can have dibs for the rest of the party. What'cha been up to, Peridot?"

Re: Back Room
Unlike Peridot, Jason's hug would end up a little higher than her kneecaps.
"Hey, you," he greeted. "It's good to have you back." Yes, he'd been vaguely aware that she'd been around during that whole... thing... where all the adults got younger, but
because the player was too busy playing a teen-ified adultsomehow they hadn't managed to cross paths.Re: Back Room
Best thing about this party so far (other than the free drinks named after herself) was easily all the birthday hugs Summer was getting. Yeah. Hugs were nice.
"Thanks, Jason. It's only really for today and tomorrow, and probably back for the Pride stuff this weekend, and, really, I don't even know why I don't just move back already."
Because you made a deal, Summer. Also, being away inspired people to hug you when you visited.

Re: Back Room
Pretty rich, coming from a lady who didn't even want to have a kid.
"I didn't even really want to go to college, but she promised to lay off if I just gave it a try. Like, sure, being back home for three months is suddenly going to change my mind about preferring to be somewhere that the weird, crazy adventures don't nearly get me killed every other week..."
