Barton-Pryde Baby Shower, The Onsen - Monday Afternoon

The Onsen was decorated in tastefully gender neutral pastel greens and yellows with a sign directing guests of the shower to where they were meant to go. And, for a change, the island wasn't doing something strange to mess up a party!

...no one point out that just saying that was jinxing things. Just go on in and enjoy the party, hoping that no nefarious brotherhood of evil anythings showed up.

Kanan had no idea how to answer that. He blinked kind of owlishly for a moment, and then attempted an elaborate pantomime that was meant to be him sitting down at the bar and drinking, at least to show he was one of the regulars, but mostly it involved him sitting up on his haunches and waving one of his front paws at her.

Sigh.

...Yeah, Kitty didn't get that at all. But she did get that he was trying to say something, at least.

"Are you a person?"

That might be easier. And it was also possible she was just talking to a cat, who knew.

There was nodding. Not super enthusiastic nodding. But definitely nodding. His big bunny-like ears flopped around as he did so.

Kanan was not thrilled with his current situation, no. But at least he was cogent enough to reply, more or less?

The bunny ears were killing her, though she'd never say it.

"Okay, getting somewhere," she said. "Does your name start with a..."

She looked around at who wasn't here that she would expect to be, versus who she thought might still show up. It didn't leave a whole lot of options. "...Are you Kanan?"

Kanan looked up at her kind of pitifully and nodded again.

That meowl might have actually been an apology. He didn't mean to be a cat for this, Kitty. But damn it, he was going to be moral support no matter what shape he was.

"...Oh, honey," she said, trying not to smile. "I'm glad you made it! You did kind of get yourself an out on this one."

And she appreciated that he didn't take it.

Maybe a little bit of an out, sure, but it wasn't like he could call to excuse himself.

... Well, maybe he could have sent her a selfie or something. He'd managed to take a few. They... weren't great, but he was getting better at them.

Either way, he was putting his little snout up in the air and meowing again, because come on, he'd done harder things than this in his life. Sure, he'd had thumbs for those things, but that was largely irrelevant. Hera had been here to get the door for him, and now he was set.

"I didn't catch any of that, but I appreciate it," she told him. And she kind of wanted to give him pets but she couldn't bend like that now and would that be weird anyway? "You are pretty cute like this, by the way."

... Yeah, well. Tookas were cute. Kanan did a pretty good job of looking vaguely awkward about that compliment, anyway.

Before preening. Because cat.

"And hey, the bonus here is, there's still plenty you can do," Kitty tried.

Wait, was there? Kanan gave his beady little eyes a squint and tilted his head as he looked up at Kitty in confusion, waiting for her to explain.

"You can totally get your nails painted," she pointed out. "And I'm pretty sure they could work out a kitty massage."

Kanan stared up at her for a few moments, and then looked down at his weird little feet. And then blinked back up at her before looking over his shoulder to scope out the lay of the land, here.

He wasn't really the painted nails sort, no, but hell, if he was a cat at a party, and if there were people willing to roll with it, what harm would it do?

"I mean, when else are you going to do it?" she encouraged.

Kanan had to hand her that one. He gave another little mrowl, a sort of feline promise that they'd talk another time, and then, with a flick of his tail, he trotted off to investigate the mani-pedi situation.

He'd totally go green, okay?
