Barton-Pryde Baby Shower, The Onsen - Monday Afternoon

The Onsen was decorated in tastefully gender neutral pastel greens and yellows with a sign directing guests of the shower to where they were meant to go. And, for a change, the island wasn't doing something strange to mess up a party!

...no one point out that just saying that was jinxing things. Just go on in and enjoy the party, hoping that no nefarious brotherhood of evil anythings showed up.

It might be getting chilly out, but the baths were hot and lovely. Get a pedicure, a manicure, or a massage if you're into that!

Here, have some strange. Some faintly annoyed strange in Loth-cat form, carrying a card in his mouth and looking overall just annoyed with the universe at large.

Kanan had said he wouldn't miss this thing for anything. Being small and feline and having a muppety bear trap for a mouth wasn't going to stop him, no.

Well. Rosa was here. At a baby shower. In essentially a public bath.

She told herself it wouldn't be so bad, because it was Kitty's, and the email had said no baby games. The second there was even a whiff of a baby game, though, she was gone, and she had a feeling Kitty wouldn't be surprised or blame her. She was here, that's what counted, right?

Massage might not be a bad idea, either. And she was trying to avoid any thoughts that might spring up on her if she even started considering a manicure. Mostly, though, she was just kind of...there, trying to stay out of things.

Mike was here. He was here straight from half a day of delivering finished pieces around the mainland, where there'd been an issue with a dining room set, so he was -- not exhausted, but definitely a little tired. But, he was here. He hoped that counted.

He was also definitely going to get a massage.

Summer didn't know Kitty as well as she'd like, but they had totally bonded over shipping, and she did love the excitement that came with babies and people she liked having them, and she liked the onsen and she liked parties, so, duh, obviously she was going to be here and be totally excited about it and the pedicure she was going to be getting, most definitely.

So... funny thing about having a name identical to someone who'd graduated several years ago from the same school.

Sometimes you got emails meant for them. And when those emails involved a baby shower for someone who you also happened to know, you didn't really think twice about whether that email was for them or for you.

Until you arrived at the party venue and literally everyone else present was an adult and started second-guessing if maybe that's what happened.

So... Bobby was probably going to bail pretty quickly, yeah, but since he was here now he figured he might as well go talk to Kitty?

Éponine wouldn't argue with a chance to leave the post office in the hands of the other workers to go to a party, and she was curious about all this manicure/pedicure business as she'd been in the 21st century long enough to know what they were but never had tried them herself.

Also because Kitty had been one of her first friends here, and she got it now; this was the sort of thing one did for friends.

So here she was, awkwardly holding a gift bag and looking forward to a nice hot soak.

Jack hadn't been on the island in about a year, but Kitty and Clint's baby shower seemed like the best possible reason to come back. His smile as he came into the onsen was affable, if slightly bewildered at all the new faces.

"Well," he said, mostly to himself. "This is going to be fun."

Hannibal didn't know Kitty terribly well, but he and Jono had gotten invitations, so it seemed polite to show up.

Even if Jono was currently a tiny viper curled up in Hannibal's pocket in lieu of a pocket square.

"You should at least enjoy the humid warmth," he informed his small, venomous husband.

It was indeed, and the proprietor had even overseen the process himself.

He was hanging out by the food tables, making sure everything stayed properly stocked, and wondering when the island was going to do something to make this party go pear-shaped.

Kitty loved all you people, and if you thought she wouldn't be taking advantage of a pedicure at some point because she couldn't get to her own toes anymore, you were mistaken.

And if she was expecting something weird to happen (which she was) it wasn't dampening her mood any.

Look, all Kanan could carry here was a card. And so, a card. It was pretty tasteful, with the exception of the feline teeth-marks in it, and the inside was kind of a mess of ink splatters and one messy tooka pawprint, stupid little chickeny feet that they were.

He'd tried. He'd do better when he had thumbs again.

There was no card with Rosa's gift, because she was pretty confident that Kitty would be able to figure out who had gotten that particular onesie, that pacifier, and the tiniest leather jacket she could find.

That last one might be a while for the kid to grow into, but Rosa'd be damned if she didn't try to make this baby cool as hell.

Half the fun of going to a baby shower was getting to show for super cute gifts. Of course, Summer did include a very practical gift card for Turtle & Canary in her card (with the express instructions that it was only to be used for baby supplies OR booze, which ever was needed most), but also a super cute gift basket, which she had a really difficult time choosing because there were seriously a lot of super cute baby things out there and she kind of wanted to buy them all, but that might be a little over the top, and she just hoped she hadn't wound up picking something that would, like, remind anyone of some bad run-ins they'd had with any rabid alien space-foxes or anything like that...

The first of Mike's gifts was soft one, containing a 'swaddle scarf' that would probably double as a kind of a blanket. Yes, he'd gone for that one because of the text, and you'd get no points for guessing that.

His second gift baby handprint kit because he was nothing but a sentimental fool.

Bobby had found a series of books- okay, HANK had found a series of books and emailed Bobby the links to purchase them online. Hank had also vetoed the tiny archery set Bobby had wanted to get, advising him to wait until the kid had at least developed fine motor skills. (He'd also pointed out that Bobby knew nothing about archery and picking out that sort of thing was better left to Hawkeye anyway. Which Bobby grudgingly had to admit was probably a good point.)

Steve (with Jan's help because Jan had gotten very invested in the idea of Clint having a kid), had found this onesie (and this one and this one), and a certificate for a housekeeper to come over once a week for the first six months.

From Éponine, there was a bag containing three stuffed animals: a rabbit, a penguin, and an elephant, all of which were ridiculously soft and cuddly.

There was also a nice bottle of wine, with a hand-scrawled note on it indicating that it was for Kitty and Clint, and absolutely not at all for the baby.
