Barton-Pryde Baby Shower, The Onsen - Monday Afternoon

The Onsen was decorated in tastefully gender neutral pastel greens and yellows with a sign directing guests of the shower to where they were meant to go. And, for a change, the island wasn't doing something strange to mess up a party!

...no one point out that just saying that was jinxing things. Just go on in and enjoy the party, hoping that no nefarious brotherhood of evil anythings showed up.

"It never would have occurred to me to do anything here, but it's kind of calming," Kitty agreed. "Maybe good for a winter birthday..."

Eliot nodded. "Especially if we get one of those big snow storms again." They would. They happened pretty much yearly, as far as he could tell. "You need anything? I made kind of a hell of a lot of food."

Look, it was nice to give people options, okay?

"I know, and I love you for it," she told him. "And asking me if I need anything is going to end in you bringing me a plate of everything."

Eliot laughed. "I can do that," he said. "And throw in antacid if you need that, too."

He'd met enough pregnant women in his time to know that the last trimester tended to come with a lot of heartburn.

Sigh.

"I'm guessing you found the satay," Eliot said, looking back at the food tables consideringly. "I can throw something together if you have a particular combo in mind?"

"No, no, it's okay. I don't want to make more work for you after you already did all this," she said quickly.

Eliot looked back at the tables, taking stock, then nodded. "Comin' right up."

They weren't in season, but he had some hot-house strawberries for the fruit salad he could use.
