Barton-Pryde Baby Shower, The Onsen - Monday Afternoon

The Onsen was decorated in tastefully gender neutral pastel greens and yellows with a sign directing guests of the shower to where they were meant to go. And, for a change, the island wasn't doing something strange to mess up a party!

...no one point out that just saying that was jinxing things. Just go on in and enjoy the party, hoping that no nefarious brotherhood of evil anythings showed up.

"That's all on Hardison and Tony," Kitty said. "Hardison found out I was pregnant and claimed the shower right away so he's had time to plan."

"If that's the case," said Rosa, "I take it back. Pretty lame if they had that much time. There should be some fireworks or something. Maybe a few strippers."

Because who didn't want strippers at a baby shower?

And, hey, they already had one.

"I'm not sure Clint would check off on strippers at the baby shower for his unborn daughter..." Kitty said thoughtfully.

"Yeah," said Rosa, "Clint doesn't sound like he'd check off on any of the fun stuff."

Still low-key plotting that stealth pink hair for the eventual third birthday.

You think she could channel some of this energy into her actual nieces and nephews, but....nah. Too close to home. She started with that and then everyone expects you to start doing more family stuff than they already forced you into.

"I'm not sure he'd care about anything else, but I think Lexi's going to be a little sheltered. Maybe till she's forty," she explained.

"He does know that that's pretty much a guaranteed recipe for a kid acting out, right?" Rosa offered. "I mean, I was a little sheltered, too."

And so were her sisters, so obviously, the percentage wasn't quite as high as she was making it out to be.

"I think the odds of it actually happening between everywhere we live are slim to none, but." She shrugged. "I have a hard time imagining you being sheltered."

Because Rosa was so Rosa about things.

"Yeah," Rosa had to agree to that with snort. "It didn't last very long."

They'd made...an effort, though, her parents. Still did, really.

Ugh, parents that cared were the worst.

Kitty was not sure Rosa would like that kind of extreme mushiness, but she said it anyway.

It wasn't so bad when the mushiness was clearly based in simple, concrete, undeniable facts.

"It's true, I did," she agreed. "And that kid's probably going to kick my ass in coolness one of these days, too."

Especially if she had anything to do with it.

Okay, now, that was just adorable, and Rosa kind of had to hate Kitty a little for it.

Except, you know, not really even remotely at all.
