The park around the pond had been strung up with lights. There was a dance floor with a live zombie band, tables of food, and a spot with a sensible Honda Accord decked out with one of those giant bows you see on car ads around the holidays.

The party was pretty great all on its own, but if you happened to be under the delusion that it was Your Super Sweet 16, well, there was everything available for you to see something slightly different.

And a pond to get into a slap fight about whose party was better.

Just sayin'.

Well, of course she did.

She was also arriving on an elephant surrounded by the entire dance troupe from Slumdog Millionaire an Oscar-award winning movie as they danced to Jai Ho.

Yes, including that actor she thought. You're welcome!

Non-delusional people would see Tahani in a perfectly pretty, non-thousand pound saree, riding on an alot. Which was also quite an entrance, honestly.

The outfit the island had chosen for Stark was a timeless space leather one. Of course. Black leather was always in fashion in space, whether it was Peacekeeper or Scarran controlled or part of the Uncharted Territories.

It was just that while Stark now wasn't particularly large, Stark at 16 had been consistently underfed and the leather was rather tight.

Alexis showed up fashionably late in a horse-drawn carriage and wearing a poofy pink dress, looking amazing.

"Happy birthday to me!" she said with a flourish.

Belle thought she was arriving in a carriage right out of a storybook, drawn by white horses and dressed in a gown made of books.

A rickshaw pulled by teal deer with a book print dress was almost the same thing, wasn't it?

Well, the 1930's suit Steve had found in his closet might've fit him when he was 16, but he was a foot taller and a hundred pounds bigger than that now, so he'd just put on a regular suit to, um, supervise whatever this was turning out to be.

At least there was cake, so it couldn't be all bad, right?

There was no way the black leather jacket outfit the island had chosen for him was going to fit.

So Dwight was wearing a nice simple suit he had brought with him for some reason when he moved to the island. He was just going to find someplace to sit and be out of the way if anyone wanted or needed him.

She descended gracefully (for her) in a teal Jessica McClintock that she didn't even have to worry about sweating in because she didn't have to return it tomorrow!

Right, so, getting a Hummer limo or even just a Hummer to the park might have been a little bit tricky, but that just meant that Troy would also be arriving to his party in a horse-drawn carriage...but a Hummer one.

Which was obviously way cooler than any of these girly ones that he would never admit to being kind of jealous of.

Whatever! His Hummer carriage was super cool and he was looking smooth as hell for the occasion and emerged with a triumphant hoot of excitement.

"Woo! Birthday! Let's do this thing!"

He had sixteen years worth of birthdays to make up for in one night, and he was going to make every single one of them count!

Jo was still wearing her white lace dress, complete with tiara and necklace.

Jo was also arriving by a horse drawn carriage and stepped out like she was royalty.

Of course Sakaki was terribly nervous about this whole thing, but it was her sixteenth birthday, and she was determined that, no matter how ridiculous it look, she was going to go all out on the cuteness! If anything, it wasn't like back home; so many of her fellow students were also very tall, even more so than she was, so it was with reassurance that it was going to be okay that she arrived at her party in a truly adorable pink carriage and could only gawk in excitement at the adorable cat decorations everywhere, bested only by her own incredibly cute outfit...

...complete with cat ears and a big bow.

"~Ā~," she gushed out with excitement. "Kawaii sugoi! This will be the best birthday ever!"

And none the cats would attack her on her birthday, right?

As the daughter of a well-known poet very much in the public eye right now, Astrid knew this thing was going to be done with style and class, but with a little bit of an artistic flair that people would come to expect from her, which was why she stepped out of a horse drawn carriage that was grafitti-splattered with so many bright colors that Sabine would have been proud, and Astrid herself was wearing an era-appropriate Betsey Johnson dress.

"And of course," she said, once she arrived with a little wave to the camera that wasn't there, "I have to give a special thanks to the California Institute for Women for live broadcasting this into their facility. I wish you could be here, Mom, but at least we can still share this big day, hundreds of miles apart!"

Well. It was probably a very good thing in this case that the Zora didn't really wear much clothing besides the occasional sash and an abudance of jewelry, because Sidon at sixteen was little more than a hatchling just getting his landlegs! But, as it was, very little of the jewelry that had been awaiting him would certainly not even come close to fitting today, though he tried his best with what he could, meaning his crown and his cravaet were noticably a bit on the mini side today and what may have once been a belt worked very nicely as a bracelet of sorts...

He certainly tried his best, but, with that out of the way, he was here to celebrate! Because that truly was something he appreciated about humans that the Zora with their long lives didn't pay as much attention to, and that was birthdays!

There had been a powder-blue monstrosity in Hannibal's closet today. He didn't think it would fit, but he had no intention of finding out.

He was dressed in a plaid suit in this season's cut and colors, and curious what was going on.

She was definitely looking forward to celebrating her sixteenth. Her sister couldn’t be there but she was going to be making a holovid if the event later.

When Ghanima had woken up today, her closet had been filled with nothing but replicas of the outfit she had worn to meet her grandmother, back when she'd been a teenager.

If the island was willing her to wear form-fitting leather for the day, then who was Ghanima to gainsay it? After all, she still did look utterly smashing in that outfit.
