Parents Weekend Meet & Greet, Friday Afternoon

It was a nice fall Friday afternoon, and the park was all ready for people to gather to meet their loved ones, as even the extremely glittery banner hanging over the entrance to the park evidenced:

Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2021!
There was a lot of glitter. Not just on the banner, but... generally everywhere. Sorry, the school administration had ordered a surplus of it, and it clearly all needed to go somewhere, and since it was all in very autumnal shades of orange and red and gold, well, this was just the occasion.

Welcome, family and friends and whoever else the townspeople and/or the school happened to invite! Try not to inhale too much glitter.

For all intents and purposes, Jerry was here to see his daughter, but if he just so happened to meet up with his new best friend her boyfriend a few times instead for some good old guy time, bonding over fishing or beers or something, well, then, that was just a coincidence, really! Summer was pretty busy, after all, and so he'd probably be doing her a favor by letting her focus on her work now that she was a teacher by entertaining his new best friend Barry for the weekend, right?

Of course, his confidence of having a great guy's weekend was a bit thrown off course when, in searching the nametags for his own, he happened across one with his wife's name on it, too, which was...odd, because Beth was going to stay home this weekend! Why would she have a nametag? It had to have been a mistake, right?

Well, he wasn't going to let it bother him and get in the way of guys' weekend! If anything, that would work out well. Beth and Summer could do their thing, while he and Barry did there! Parents' Weekend was for the Boys!

Beth...really wasn't sure about all of this, but she'd be lying if she said that getting Summer's message early that week didn't set something off inside of her that she'd been trying to escape from for the past couple of years. And, really, so had seeing them all again, her family, that she had....well...

She wasn't going to think about it. Because whatever she had done, the fact of the matter was that her daughter had asked her to come to this thing, and you know what? She was there. She could be out infiltrating a Gromflomite base right now and squishing bug skulls, but she wasn't. She was here. At a Parents' Weekend event in the weird dimension where Summer had gone to school once upon a time.

She found her nametag, failed to brush off some of the glitter, plastered it onto her breastplate, and then turned to look around to figure out where to go to actually find Summer now that she was here.

Since Jūshirō had come along to another one of these things with the intention of being a bit of a mediator between Shunsui and his intrepid little lieutenant, it was a good thing that, even right with their arrival, he had the opportunity to mitigate some of Nanao's intensity straight out the gate.

"Would you just look at all that glitter," he remarked with a faint chuckle. "It's hard to jump right into serious topics with something so whimsical as all that, wouldn't you say, Lieutenant?"

Chiana had been bored when a communication had come in with an invitation to visit somewhere called Fandom and see Stark. Bored and tired of hanging around near Hyneria while Rygel continued planning his coup. Of course she'd jumped at the chance to do something interesting and see where it was their occasional shipmate had wandered off to and stayed. Of course she hadn't tried comming to Stark to tell him she was coming. It would be much more fun to surprise him.

She grabbed her nametag, not minding the glitter (Pilot was going to mind the glitter, later, when she returned to Moya and it started getting stuck to the DRDs), and looked around. At least Stark was easy to spot in a crowd. Unless this place had some sort of overpopulation of masked Baniks wandering around but it really didn't look like it did.

The uncomfortable-looking redhead who'd shown up in a baseball cap and sunglasses (and reluctantly taken both off when she realized it would just make her stick out more -- Jesus, Starlight, how small was this place?) took way too long to decide what to put on her nametag.

M and a sat for a beat before she finally filled it in with ggie and slapped the thing to the front of her top. Maggie for the weekend. She was already risking being recognized, anyway, so fuck it.

Well, this was year two of getting whisked off to the Maryland again to see her dad. So Grace was pretending she was old hat at this.

Mostly by being annoyed that she couldn't text her friends at the moment.

Ah, the joys of burgeoning teenage drama.

Edward was going to take care of the nametags for all of them, don't worry. She had this.

She made one for herself, of course, featuring a little self-portrait next to her name.

And then one for Jet, with a grumpy -- but kind! -- looking drawing of him.

And then one for Spike. It was mostly hair.

"You can't have one," she told Ein, regretful. "Maybe if we use tape?"

Thor wrote "THOR!" on his nametag to differentiate himself from the Thor with the smiley face, then looked around the crowd with renewed interest. With more than one Thor, surely there would be many friends from work!

Now Michelle was 80 percent certain that wearing a nametag was the nerdiest thing to be caught doing, ever, but Clare was also extremely nerdy, so. Conundrum, as it were (she'd been studying, okay? She knew big words).

She slapped "CLARE'S FRIEND" onto a sticker and put it onto her jacket, then went looking for some cute lads to ogle. Clare would know where to find her, honestly.

Jess not only had a name tag, she'd used her own markers to make it colorful. Her name was punctuated by a pink exclamation point.

The glitter? A bonus.

Food and Drinks [PW 2021]

There's a grand variety of snacks and drinks from all across the multiverse on offer! Most of it is glitter-free! Some of it has edible glitter.

Though why anyone would want glitter-dusted cocktail sausages is anyone's guess.

An unassuming brown-haired man in unremarkable red-and-purple robes poofed into existence on a picnic bench. At least, ‘poofing’ is the word he’d have used to describe it: the sound of the little puff of magic that blew away into the sky on his arrival seemed to demand it.

Rafe hadn’t chosen to be poofed here. He had no idea where ‘here’ was, let alone if ‘poofing’ here had even been possible. He stared at the picnic, the glitter and the banners in abject confusion, followed by— “Your Slowness!” — complete and utter horror as Lady Abigail’s birch hang-stand pitched over beside him.

He grabbed hold of the wood and clung to it tightly, pulling it back onto the picnic seat. “Lady Abigail! Are you all right?” he asked. “Are you hurt? Scared? Oh, I’m so terribly sorry for this unceremonious— poofing!”

The sloth blinked sluggishly and wrapped her claws tighter around the stand.

Jo had no one visiting her and she was rather relieved about that because she didn't want her dad anywhere near Fandom, especially after her last half term at her old school.

So she decided to help herself to some food and find a spot to sit so she could watch what was happening around her.

Okay, maybe Diego had gotten his hopes up a little when it came to the possibility that somehow one of his siblings found their way to the island.

When it became obvious that wasn't happening, he made his way to the food table under the guise of being law enforcement so it was his job to be here, clearly.

Look, Faye was super used to glitter at this point, even in her food, so it wasn't gonna bother her. She wasn't really expecting to see anyone for herself, no, but maybe she'd meet someone else's visitors.

Granted, she'd totally sent people she knew a message about this weekend, but did she think anyone would show? No, pff. Because Faye was stupid and short-sighted and still kind of working on her self-esteem in a few ways.

Stark was absolutely not expecting any visitors. He'd never had any before why would they start now?

He was just here for the food, to see some friends who lived here, and maybe to see some of their visitors.

He was completely fine with all the glitter. Even on the food.

Goose had heard at the last minute that the rest of the Series 5 team were going to visit him that weekend, which he hadn't been expecting since he knew how few resources the Galaxy Rangers had at the moment and were stretched thin so the had been surprised Commander Walsh had approved the visit.

Even though this visit had the potential to also be a disaster since considering their track record, things never went to plan.
