The Beach, Monday afternoon
After classes were over (or roughly, it wasn't like he kept track like some kind of creeper), he put on his favorite Hawaiian shirt from the Shenanigans--the Hot Dog Bigfoots--and headed down to the beach.
In a little while, there were four fires roaring merrily: three on different grills with a variety of meats, one sequestered just for pork products, and one for vegetarian options. Steve'd even sourced some fresh ahi again and was feeling particularly pleased with himself about that.
The fourth fire was a cute little bonfire with neatly stacked rejected Shenanigan shirts placed a safe distance from it, along with buckets of water and sand for fire safety (and because McGarrett had 100 percent been a Boy Scout).
There were coolers of drinks including one of beer with a sign--"If you are from the HS and take a beer at a cop party, you're dumber than we thought and are v sad for you"--as the only disincentive.
Come on down, Fandom! Say goodbye to the summer. Eat food, drink beer, get rid of polyblend if that's your thing...

Re: Arrive and Mingle!
Or at least, it seemed that certain portions of his police force were fans of the Margaritaville look.
Re: Arrive and Mingle!
"I don't think I'll go quite that far," Watts said with a slight grimace. Those particular shirts seemed more the speed of Henry Higgins, should he find himself suddenly in the future.
Re: Arrive and Mingle!
She, personally, quite fancied the lighter summertime suits favored around Watts' time.

But then again, they sometimes came with sunglasses or martini glasses embroidered on them, as well.
"Are tropical birds and flowers a hard limit on the patterns for you, then, Detective?" she wondered, given that she had noticed his lack of fear of clashing.
Re: Arrive and Mingle!
"I'll give it some consideration," Watts said, in regards to the golf shirts suggestion. "I've nothing against birds and flowers, just... a bit more subtle." He'd totally wear a waistcoat embroidered with either, for example!
Re: Arrive and Mingle!
Also with the shenanigan shirts, but those were also often polyester, which was Irene's main objection.
