After classes were over (or roughly, it wasn't like he kept track like some kind of creeper), he put on his favorite Hawaiian shirt from the Shenanigans--the Hot Dog Bigfoots--and headed down to the beach.

In a little while, there were four fires roaring merrily: three on different grills with a variety of meats, one sequestered just for pork products, and one for vegetarian options. Steve'd even sourced some fresh ahi again and was feeling particularly pleased with himself about that.

The fourth fire was a cute little bonfire with neatly stacked rejected Shenanigan shirts placed a safe distance from it, along with buckets of water and sand for fire safety (and because McGarrett had 100 percent been a Boy Scout).

There were coolers of drinks including one of beer with a sign--"If you are from the HS and take a beer at a cop party, you're dumber than we thought and are v sad for you"--as the only disincentive.

Come on down, Fandom! Say goodbye to the summer. Eat food, drink beer, get rid of polyblend if that's your thing...

"Oh, just a little?" No, Stark. That's not how you try to reassure people!

"Just my arm. It wasn't serious." In that he wasn't in danger of dying once he'd been Force-flung (mostly gently) onto the ship and out of the line of more fire. "I'd rather not do it again, anyway, even if it was only a little."

"Yes, I'd say that's probably the best course of action to avoid in the future," she agreed. "Do things like that happen a lot around here?"

"We weren't here. We were in Rey's version of space. But...no. Being shot at here isn't common. Things like last week happen much more often. The bags and the fire that wasn't real. Things like that."

"That whole week was a bit... strange," she agreed. "Especially the bags."

Hard pass on that again, thank you.

"I don't like the bags," Stark said, frowning. "I don't need the reminders. Or to see everyone else's. I don't think any of us do. I didn't mind the cats."

"They kept playing with my hair mostly," Jane admitted. "I think because I was closer to the ceiling than normal."

"You are tall." And with very nice arms.

"The cats mostly stayed in the ceiling. And I haven't got much hair for them to play with."

"Thankfully the magic hammer maintains the whole... perfect flowing blond hair thing," she admitted. "This is all way more work than I'd be up for."

That was just such a normal thing to say too, Jane.

"Magic hammer?" Stark repeated. That was new!

"Oh, Mjolnir," she said, showing him the hammer.

"It's magic? Or you're magic? Or both?"

"Well, mostly just it's magic and I benefit from it?" Again, totally normal.

"Oh." Stark had lived here long enough that magic items weren't a shock. "What does it do? Unless you don't want to say. You don't have to."

"Well, it's sort of a spell on it, I guess?" Jane said before continuing ina very dramatic voice. "Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Good job being worthy of the fancy magic hammer, Jane!

"Congratulations? I think."

"Thank you!" she said sincerely.

"How did you get your magic hammer? Unless you don't want to say."

He didn't want to pry but this was interesting.

"Well, that's a but more of a story," Jane admitted. "It belonged to my ex-boyfriend and then his sister shattered it and now it came back together for me."

Well, that made sense while not actually being at all enlightening. Well done!

"Oh. Well. That's...good I think?"

The details were much more of a downer. Especially for a fun, beach party.

"I think so. It caused me to grow almost a whole foot! And the muscles?"

He flexed without really meaning to. Look at those guns. Look at 'em.

"You are tall. And...muscle-y."

Look, there were a lot of people getting respectful looks today on this beach. There was no way around it.

Those arms were a major distraction, it was true.

"Now I am," she said proudly. "It's really nice to be tall. I can reach things so much more easily."

They were very nice arms!

"It is good to be able to reach things." Stark was tall enough that that wasn't usually an issue. "Was it strange to be so tall so suddenly?"

"At first? And sometimes still when I forget to duck," she admitted.
