After classes were over (or roughly, it wasn't like he kept track like some kind of creeper), he put on his favorite Hawaiian shirt from the Shenanigans--the Hot Dog Bigfoots--and headed down to the beach.

In a little while, there were four fires roaring merrily: three on different grills with a variety of meats, one sequestered just for pork products, and one for vegetarian options. Steve'd even sourced some fresh ahi again and was feeling particularly pleased with himself about that.

The fourth fire was a cute little bonfire with neatly stacked rejected Shenanigan shirts placed a safe distance from it, along with buckets of water and sand for fire safety (and because McGarrett had 100 percent been a Boy Scout).

There were coolers of drinks including one of beer with a sign--"If you are from the HS and take a beer at a cop party, you're dumber than we thought and are v sad for you"--as the only disincentive.

Come on down, Fandom! Say goodbye to the summer. Eat food, drink beer, get rid of polyblend if that's your thing...

Well, Raiden had just been running his mouth, so it wasn't like he'd be offended. "I brought pizza," he said, gesturing toward where he'd left them. "You should try some!" It was better for you than a diet of pretzels. He was pretty sure.

How had Crabtree described pizza once?

“Ah, yes. The food which can serve as its own plate. I definitely shall.”

"Have you--you have had pizza before, right?" Please say you'd had pizza before, Watts.

"Of course I've had pizza before," Watts told him. Sold to him by a street vendor, so by the slice and not an entire pizza to himself, but still.

"Okay, good," Raiden said. "Just checking. Life without pizza would be a tragedy."

Almost as much of a tragedy as your first brush with pizza being that hot dog thing Raiden had brought.

"So pizza is a particular favourite, then?" Watts asked. "No, I suppose it would be, wouldn't it, since you've taken on the restaurant."

"Detective Watts," Raiden said somberly. "Pizza is the perfect food."

Watts rather thought pretzels occupied that space, but he was willing to give Raiden's ideas due consideration. "How so?"

"It's endlessly versatile," Raiden said. "You can change the crust, you can change the toppings...you can convert other foods into pizza form. Like today I made cheeseburger pizza. Delicious. You've got all your food groups, you've got bread, you've got vegetables, you've got cheese and meat, so it's a more or less balanced meal. You don't need utensils. What's not to love?"
