It was New Year's Eve, and Caritas was decked out for the holidays. The bar itself was decorated with silver fringe, there were gold, black and white balloons arranged in corners (so anyone trying to hide either couldn't, or they could really hide), silver and gold garland hung from the ceiling, and Tino had even dressed up. Meaning he was wearing a short sleeved t-shirt that looked like a tuxedo. It was the thought that counted.

The zombie band was playing the hits, the bass player dressed in a dashing red velvet jacket for some reason, and Kitty had had fun with the specials for the night.

Kitty stared at Tino when she saw that last one added. "There's a USB-powered menorah because fire and drunk people is a bad combination and you decided to do this?"

Anyway. There was also a very easily accessible fire extinguisher on top of the bar if needed. Don't let it be needed.

"But Percy, darling," Liliana said with a rich laugh, "think of how much less fun they'd be if we did. Hello, darling, you're looking well. I must say..." She leaned back and gave him a lingering once over. "I adore the suit."

"Oh this old thing?" he joked, but still of course preened a bit as he pretended to smooth the lapel on his coat. "Just some simple formal wear from Tal'Dorei. You, of course, are a vision as always. Those shoes are quite spectacular."

"Thank you, darling," Liliana said, doing a fair bit of preening herself. "If I can't awe from my head to my very feet, what is even the point?" She raised an eyebrow at his drink. "And what, exactly, is that drink that you've deemed acceptable to allow Tino play with fire for?"

"This novelty is known as the Dumpster Fire," he said frowning at the drink. "I thought to try out something new and different. I didn't expect pyrotechnics when I ordered it."

"A Dumpster Fire?" Liliana asked, arching a slim brow. "Darling, if I may suggest staying away from drinks named for trash receptacles in the future? At least those made by Tino; I wouldn't trust him to not take inspiration from the name."

"A trash receptacle!"

A horrified look crossed Percy's face as he immediately discarded the drink and pulled out a handkerchief to blot away the travesty from his face. "I had no such idea that's what it was from!"

"That's what it's named for, at least," Liliana said, offering over her drink to get the taste from his mouth. "Try mine, darling. It's the 25th hour - a mix of a truly lovely port and a nicely smoky scotch. Though between you, myself, and Ignis, we might decide to just open a few bottles of excellent wine and call it good."

"Thank you but I believe my trust for cocktails might have soured me on the experience," Percy said with a smirk. "I think it would be a better choice to go with wine for the rest of the evening. And forgive my manners, how are you doing, Liliana? Did you participate in any of the holiday traditions last week?"

"Indeed," Liliana said. "I find I adore Christmas, its preponderance of angels aside." She curled a lip on the word 'angel' and took a sip of her drink. "Next year, if you haven't festivities of your own, you simply must join us for ours. Ignis makes a truly decadent meal, the halls are decked, the tree is trimmed, et cetera et cetera."

"We have a similar holiday back on my world known as the Winter's Crest. However our holiday revolves around the defeat of a tyrant and not celebrating a baby god being born," Percy said with a nod. "And if I'm here next year at this time I will gladly attend. It sounds like a wonderful event."

"Honestly, that makes far more sense as far as a holiday tradition goes," Liliana said. "If I may offer some advice, darling, do not dig deeper into their worship around the homeless baby god. It goes to some very dark, very bizarre places - and I've been to Rakdos celebrations."

"Well I'm unfamiliar with Rakdos but I shall refrain with any topics surrounding religion," Percy agreed with a nod. "I haven't been much of a worshiper anyway. They seem to have their own interests in mind and I'm not always sure they are in humanity's interest."

"Rakdos is a demon - actually, not as awful as demons go, though that's certainly due to his cult keeping him amused and therefore less inclined to be as tiresome as most demons are," she said, rolling her eyes.

Still, far less a sneer than the angels had gotten.

"And, as someone who has been on both sides, I can assure you that gods are a racket and generally only in it for themselves."

"Something I rather suspected and glad to hear confirmed," Percy said with a firm nod. "With all due respect to my cleric friend who has saved me literally hundreds of times. Although I attribute my healing to hear and not the Everlight."

"I was also a cleric of a holy healing order as a girl," Liliana said. "Imagine my chagrin when I learned that the woman I had so faithfully worshipped hadn't been a goddess at all, but a Planeswalker like myself - and had died a thousand years before I'd been born, because she'd lost the will to live after her husband died."

She rolled her eyes and took another drink. Ignis, she loved you utterly, but she was hardly going to give up her immortality when you passed on.
