Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Barry: "And now that you've got those slow dance needs filtered out for a bit, we're gonna kick it up a notch. Maybe, just maybe, up to eleven. This one is by a little group called Aerosmith."

Dewey grins and nods, and the Uptown Five play the song verily and mightily, as Barry sings most excellently.

Cameron leads Jaye onto the dancefloor. This one was faster so he wasn't all to sure how to do this. "Okay, I think the band came free with the photographer."

"Yeah, I'm a little confused at it myself," she says. "And this is like, the weirdest song ever to dance to."

"I don't know, the second was worse," Cameron points out. "Close your ears and pretend it's another one?" He suggests as he moves closer.

"Or do the twist?" He might have followed that up with a small demonstration.

Jaye laughs. "Oh my god, no."

"Tango? Samba? Salsa? I have no clue how any of those go," he laughs and shrugs.

"Okay, I refuse to believe anyone doesn't know how to even jokingly tangoo," she says, eyeing him suspiciously. "You just... I don't know, move."

"Okay, so I can handle jokingly," he's intend on showing it too as he steps up to Jaye and holds his hand out.

Jaye facepalms, but takes his hand anyway.

Parker rolled her eyes, then grinned and tapped Xander on the shoulder. "Hey, dude. I'm stealing you from your prom date for this."

Xander totally heard that, really. Except for where it took him about three long, slow blinks to turn around and blink at Parker for a fourth time. "Okay? I guess?"

He turned to look back at Bridge. "Okay?"

"Okay!" Bridge gives Xander a thumbs-up.

"C'mon, Your Suaveness. It's not like it's a slow dance." Parker tipped Bridge a wink. "I swear you'll live through it."

That's what they said about the zombie attack, the snow monster invasion and flugelhorn lessons," Xander answered, following her further out onto the mostly-clear dancefloor.

"Considering you said I made you remember how to play the fluglehorn, I'm going to take that as one-tenth of a compliment," Parker said, beginning to twirl. Just because it's a weird song doesn't mean you can't have fun with it.

"Well, I guess I did live through them all." Xander snickered and moved into a dance that was not quite the patented Xander Harris Bronze Flail Who Cares Who's Watching Because They All Know I'm A Dork Anyway fastdance. There was slightly less flailing. "Including remembering how to play the flugelhorn."

Parker grinned, and grabbed his hand, doing something like a modified jitterbug out from the flailing. "You did, didn't you? How many guys can say that, hunh? Survived all that, and a Prom with Bridge Carson. And a dance with me."

"Okay, how do we do this?" Jake asked Molly. They'd run into each other on the dance floor and somehow that turned into dancing. She grinned. "Me leading, you twirling?"

Molly shrugged. "You're taller and probably know how to lead more than I do, so let's go with that."

"I can work with that." She held her hand out towards Molly as the music started up again. "Okay, step quickly and hope like hell I can keep my balance!"

Molly giggled and took the other girl's hand. "I'm not wearing heels, so as long as you don't fall hard enough to knock me off balance, I'll catch you." She readied herself to follow Jake's lead.

Jake fell into swing moves, because that was pretty easy as long as she remembered that she was wearing heels. "Yeah, you're super strong or something, right? I feel much safer." She nodded solemnly.

"Yep," Molly said as she kept up with Jake as best she could. "Super strength. So, feel free to cut loose. I won't let you fall, if I can help it."

Jake grinned. "It think this is about as much cutting loose as I feel comfortable doing in public. Aaand," she lifted her hand higher. "Twirl."
