Caritas, Wednesday Evening

Jarod whistled as he opened the bar, to the point where the zombies were elbowing each other in a knowing fashion and Tino kept hoping for some good gossip, which he wouldn't get. When it was quiet, Jarod once again worked on his laptop, closing it when he sensed anyone coming close enough to read the screen.

"It's not neccessary," she admitted. "But I know some authors create more lyrical or romantic sounding names for themselves, like Phillipa or Georgine. Yes, I've spent way too much time in the romance section of the bookstore."

"A strong heroine, a semi-flawed hero, a fun plot," Isabel listed. "I want to be drawn into the story. I want to forget what's going on in my life for a while."

"A depressing part is allowed, but only if there's a happy ending." Isabel shrugged, "Sorry but I'm totally a sucker for the happy ending. As for the rest? It's hard to describe but I guess I like it softer, not so graphic and gritty. And why the hell are you asking me this," she asked. "Better yet? Why am I telling you?"

"Suuurree," she drawled. "Well when your novel is sitting on the front table at Barnes & Noble, I want an autographed copy."

"Cedric and I went to the Getty Museum, then a bunch of us went to Disney World, and then we spent some time on Muscle Beach," she said, smiling at the memories. "We finished off with a New Year's party. I'm really glad we went."

"No, that was yesterday," Isabel laughed. "I'm sorry I left so suddenly, after we'd talked about having lunch. But Jack had to leave for the break at the last minute and I didn't want Cedric to spend the whole time sitting in his room. He needed to get out of here."

"Well I still owe you lunch, just for cutting out last minute like that. So," she said, taking a sip of her drink and resting her chin on her hand. "Did you ever get your Christmas presents?"

"And? Andthing good?" Isabel asked, trying not to appear too curious.

She grinned at the mention of the collar. "It's Parker, what do you expect? Besides, M deserves the best. No coal though?"

"Oh," she said, getting it. "A joke gift? Hopefully accompanied by something nice?"
