Jaye was actually at work, and there early for once, which shocked the hell out of Tino. But see, she got to host tonight, and she was actually excited for it. She'd even brought popcorn to watch. Maybe someone could get slapped in three minutes and the slapper would end up in the pond. When people arrived, there was even a sign on the door.

When everyone had gotten there, Jaye took the stage, mic in hand. "Hey there, so you should all know how this goes by now, as we've had way too many for you to be clueless. Unless you're new. In which case, ha ha, suckers. So, dating sucks, so we get you through the process really really quickly. Now you can find out within three minutes that the person you're talking to is not the one you want to spend even four minutes more with.

"Here's how it goes: I call your name, and someone else's. You get together. You talk for three minutes, get to know each other, and then you'll hear this," she said, pulling an airhorn from behind her back to sound it. "Then I'll call your name with someone else's and you switch. You'll hear this sound," she said, blowing the horn again just because she could, "five times total. Any ques- good. Enjoy!"

[Three minutes = ten comments, which means each person gets five comments in a thread. You don't have to do these chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself. Slowplay is totally fine omg.

...Liir hoped Viki would make it to the table with him.

It was possibly only luck that had her doing so, that and the fact that this really was quite interesting.

"It's a bit dizzying, don't you think? All of the switching."

"I guess. It's kind of nice. A whirlwind of people and it's too fast for anyone to say anything really terrible or muck matters up. How've you been, Viki?"

"Much the same as from before," she said, smiling. "And, yes, I suppose there is that if you're terribly afraid of mucking things up. Though, really, I don't think there's much of a reason to worry as people will think what they think no matter what and there's not much you can do about that."

"I've noticed that, but I try not to help them think badly of me," he told her.

That got a tilt of her head.

"Why do you care, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Why shouldn't I care?" he asked her in return.

"Well, I should think, that caring overly much about what people think means that you would become less of you and more of what they want to see. And that can't be a good way to live, not just as a reflection of what people want to see."

"As bad as not bending an inch and never getting the benefit of other's opinions and ideas?"

He had seen far more of one than the other.

"That's different," she said. "Consideration is all well and good, but you should think first of yourself and then of what others think. There is no point in being someone else if you aren't yourself first."

"And if you don't quite know who you are yet anyway?"

She shrugged eloquently. "No one ever does. It does not mean you should bend to another's will."

The bell rung and Liir was grateful for it.

"Not necessarily. But I'd rather bend then be broken."
