Caritas, Saturday- Three Minute Dates

Jaye was actually at work, and there early for once, which shocked the hell out of Tino. But see, she got to host tonight, and she was actually excited for it. She'd even brought popcorn to watch. Maybe someone could get slapped in three minutes and the slapper would end up in the pond. When people arrived, there was even a sign on the door.

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Jaye Tyler
Reject People! Speedily!

When everyone had gotten there, Jaye took the stage, mic in hand. "Hey there, so you should all know how this goes by now, as we've had way too many for you to be clueless. Unless you're new. In which case, ha ha, suckers. So, dating sucks, so we get you through the process really really quickly. Now you can find out within three minutes that the person you're talking to is not the one you want to spend even four minutes more with.

"Here's how it goes: I call your name, and someone else's. You get together. You talk for three minutes, get to know each other, and then you'll hear this," she said, pulling an airhorn from behind her back to sound it. "Then I'll call your name with someone else's and you switch. You'll hear this sound," she said, blowing the horn again just because she could, "five times total. Any ques- good. Enjoy!"

[Three minutes = ten comments, which means each person gets five comments in a thread. You don't have to do these chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself. Slowplay is totally fine omg.

Also wait for OCD becauase if you interrupt me I WILL come over there. Ready! Set! Go kill my inbox!]

For now, it was just Coke in his glass. "Hi. I'm Jack."

"Alice Liddell, pleased to make your acquaintance," Alice said, bobbing her head instead of the customary curtsy. At least she was breaking the habit of those. "I must warn you, I'm a novice to dating."

Jack returned her headbob with a guynod, grinning a bit. "Nothing to it. You chat, get a few drinks, and see what happens." He smiled and signaled for the barstaff for a drink for Alice. "What's your poison? And what brings you to this place?"

"My poison?" she said, frowning. "I stay with arsenic, when I must. Far easier to find than the alternatives." Alice noticed him indicating the barstaff, and bobbed her head to them, as well. "Just water this evening, thank you."

"I came here to observe," she explained. "I've never dated before, I was going to watch, and instead it seems I've ended a participant."

Jack almost ordered the arsenic, wondering how it'd taste. Maybe next time. "Just another Coke for now."

"Well, that's the best way to watch is to get involved and see how it works. Dating is easy. A boy and a girl and they find out they like each other so they see what happens." Simple. And explained nothing.

"It seems as though what's likely to happen is that the boy and girl will still be introducing themselves when the three minutes ends," she laughed. "We should consider it lucky that none of us are royalty, as those names tend to be exceptionally long. King of this, Duke of that, and Earl of somewhere else. Even when I was Queen, I was at least Queen Alice and just that."

"You're a queen? I've never dated a queen before, three minutes or otherwise. Wow. Queen Alice. Aren't you a little young for a queen, still in high school, Your Majesty?" he asked, honestly surprised. Not that he'd spoken much to queens, three minutes or otherwise.

Jack was floored. He was talking to a Queen!

"If you still want to talk after the three minutes of introduction are up, I'll be around," he stated.

"I was younger still when I became Queen," she smiled. "Any pawn can, by reaching the eighth square. It's reaching that that becomes difficult. And of course, when one is Queen, one must deal with other queens."

Most of whom were terribly unpleasant.

Royalty! "So you started off as a pawn but became Queen? Eighth square? Sounds almost like chess," he said with a laugh. "I've never dealt with a Queen before, Your Majesty, so I wouldn't know how to deal with other queens. Gotta say, you seem like a normal person. I thought queens were, y'know, old. Or older, at least."

He looked at the time. "The buzzer will go off soon. That's a shame."

"Very like chess indeed," she said, holding out her hand for him to shake. "I'm not a Queen any longer, just Alice. And it was very nice meeting you."

Jack gave her a firm handshake. "Very nice, indeed. I hope to see you around more." He grinned. Very good beginning.
