The Park, Friday evening
Jaina was having the start of a very bad night. Not that she knew it right now.
No, she was just walking out into the powdered sugar, standing at the perfect place to gaze out upon the pond behind her at that camera angle, gazing out to where the sunset would have been if it hadn't already happened. Though it should be noted that the moonlight still illuminated her features perfectly.
"Neeeeeeeeeeeeeear, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar, whereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeer you aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare..."
[OPEN. I've had a badday month which has culminated in a dinner of Oreo cookies dipped in boozed up egg nog. If you don't get sang at, I will have to send other girls. And if I still need happy, who knows, maybe Buffy will end up as Whitney Houston. YOU DON'T KNOW.]

And nearly die laughing. Getting himself together enough to walk closer, he internally prayed she was going to take requests.

He didn't put two and two together immediately and guess gremlin bite because he was too transfixed on her singing to really think.
He was able to laugh though.

"When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
When I dial the telephone
Nobody's home"

The accent was completely unexpected and he would never ever let Jaina forget that she talked like some of those women on the talk shows he'd seen who cried over a paternity test revelation.
Talk shows were weird.
"You're really great," he said after he found his voice.

So he chanced the powdered sugar (what the hell, what the hell, what the hell) and ventured into town to get himself a cookie.
He only got as far as the park.
"Oh, please be Brooke."

There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed
If I just listened to it right outside the window
There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were drying up forever"

For which he didn't think he'd ever been more grateful for in his life and he thanks the little nicotine demons in his fingernails for gracing this. He folded his arms, leaned against a tree, and just had to enjoy the show, really, and complimented it with one hell of a round of applause and standing ovation.

"For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful, baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall, you're the one
Who saw me through, through it all"

She stopped by a tree to watch. She liked singing in general, and her voice wasn't bad, but this didn't seem like something either Jaina or Brooke would do normally. She wondered if there'd been a dare involved.

And lucky Ella got to have the non-existent spotlight on her for all of two seconds as "Celine" found her in the audience and started singing to her young fan.
"So much to believe in- We were lost in time
Everything I needed
I feel in your eyes
Always thought of keepin'
our heart next to mne
But now that seems so far away
DOn't know how love could leave
Without a trace
Where do silent hearts go?"

Imagine her amusement when she just happened to end up in the park, watching Jaina be very un-Jaina-like.
"Wow."
This was just as amusing as gremlin-bitten Master Skywalker, but with about 110% less trauma.

"I had to escape
The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
I was dreaming while I drove
The long straight road ahead, uh huh yeah
Could taste your sweet kisses
Your arms open wide
This fever for you
Is just burning me up inside"
Oh hey, Celine's songs were kinda dirty, weren't they.

"Wow, Jaina." The corner of Tahiri's mouth was twitching, and it wasn't just from the sugar high. "I had no idea, really."

He wondered how well the song would hold up if it was translated into Klingon.
