"I'm seeing some familiar faces here from last night," Ghanima said as people filed in. "Hopefully you weren't all up too late."

"If you were, shake it off or get out. Half-hearted attempts because you're too sleep-deprived to pay attention are insulting and a recipe for injury."

"If you get out there and screw around," Tyler added, "we'll just send you home anyhow. Don't embarrass yourselves."

"Now comes the fun. For us, at least," Ghanima said. "You. You. You two. Tyler?"

"Them," Tyler said, gesturing to two people at opposite edges of the crowd, "Her and him. Go."

"Uh, that I don't know," Griff admitted sheepishly. "I probably should know, though."

"Well, it's still early, so maybe not?" Dinah suggested. "I mean. If you know how you feel, sure, but maybe it's still... um. Settling in?"

She so wouldn't win as a relationship guru.

"You've got me there," he told her. "I've no clue how these things work."

"I've only had one boyfriend. And one almost." Which maybe put her ahead of Fiona and Griff, for different reasons. "I think you decide you want to keep spending more time with each other, and that you'd prefer not to have the option to kiss anyone else, and then you figure out the more complicated stuff as it comes up." At least, from what she'd seen of other people's relationships too. "Or you decide it's not gonna go any further and just stay friends, you know?"

"Oh! So we're supposed to talk about it," Griff said, nearly laughing.

Dinah rolled her eyes, and batted at his arm. "At some point, yeah!"

"Then at some point I'll give it a go," he promised. "How're your dating adventures going?"

"Mmm, not terrible?" Dinah said, rocking on her toes. "I had a date with George, to the dance last night. We had fun." She smiled. "Too soon to say anything else, plus we got off on a weird foot, what with me kissing him during that stupid hormone week."

"Right, that week," Griff could understand a little. "At least you didn't kiss a half dozen people?"

"Right!" Dinah turned bright red. "Three's only half that many." She leaned over to poke at him. "What did youuuu do that week?"

He went red in the ears again. "Isn't there some rules about guys not kissing and telling?"

"Only if you would've kissed them anyway," Dinah said, just to be contrary. "If it was all magic hormones you can tell. Really!"

"Is that so?" Griff asked. "In that case I suppose I can say I had an enjoyable time with a friend."

Dinah snorted, then grinned. "Fiiiine. I'm glad you did, then." She cocked her head. "So you're here to test out your skills on the other denizens of the island now?"

"And I got picked," he said. "I don't know the guy though. Hopefully it won't be over too fast."

"Jon's a good guy. No idea about his combat skills, though," Dinah said. "You studied karate though, I thought you said?"

"That's right," he nodded. "When combined with my other skills I'm better than average, but I don't think I'll be going there in this club."

"Ohhhhh," Dinah said, understanding. "No, I get that. Better to practice the stuff you need to improve, anyway. At least that's how I look at it here. I mean, I could get exhausted, and not be able to use TK, or get drugged, same deal. So it's better to not have to rely on it alone."

"Exactly. But I'd bet your TK is far more useful in a fight. I'm just faster." And he was already fast for his size.

"Well, it can be," Dinah hedged. "But I've only had it a year, so I'm still getting used to how to do stuff with it. Tahiri and I practice, her Force skills versus my TK, and that helps a lot. It wouldn't feel fair using it here on someone who doesn't have powers too, but a lot of people don't." She grinned. "I bet it's a shock for people when they get in a fight with you, and suddenly you're behind them, whoosh."

"Ah, practice. I mostly end up on my own there. If you ever need a dummy that moves, I'm here for you," he replied. "As for them being shocked, that's usually my hope, too. It's worked pretty well when I'm not spotted."

"Seriously? You'd let me throw you around? You could wear padding," Dinah said hastily, but still a little hopeful. "And cooool. You could practice... I dunno, jumping around me? If you wanted?"

"I meant more like throw things at me and see if I can't jump away in time," Griff laughed. "Though I'm sure tossing me through the air would be endless fun for you."

"Ooops," Dinah said, looking guilty. "Sure, that works too. Maybe tomorrow, or when we get back from Arrakis, but before I head up to New Gotham next Friday?"

"I'm good for tomorrow if you are," he told her.
