After plotting and planning, all their wicked ideas were about to come to fruition. A long stretch of beach had been roped off, and white party lights and tiki torches provided the illumination for Sookie's birthday party. Orchids and other exotic flowers covered the tables, and each girl was presented with a lei or flower crown upon arrival. A pair of very attractive ~~NPC~~ bartenders were staffing the two open bars, and at the birthday girl's private table, there was a cake.

This is what happened when people left planning up to Emma, Karla, and poor, wide-eyed Bobby.

At least Bobby hadn't been expected to handle things like flowers or decorations. He was thankful for that. Food, though. Food was easy. There was a wide selection of ~~moddable~~ dishes from just about every establishment on the island. Okay, so he'd gone a little overboard. And maybe off-theme since some of the dishes were decidedly non-Tiki-Party-ish, but his heart was in the right place.

The dress code that had been written on the invitations was being enforced; swimsuits, or dress-casual summer wear, and everyone had to take a turn acting as Cabana Boy (or Girl) to the Guest of Honor.

Of course, Bobby was on hand to make sure that nobody took too long of a turn, because, hey. Girlfriend. His prerogative. Something like that.

Though if people wanted to play Cabana Boy/Girl for other party goers, it's doubtful anyone would complain.

Peter shrugged. "I honestly wouldn't know," he said, smiling. "So you helped organize the party, then?"

"I did!" Karla beamed. "Me, Emma, and Bobby. Sookie and Emma had talked about something like this at my birthday party in May, and so the three of us hatched this plan."

Sookie'd had a tough time recently. She'd deserved a birthday party that shaded over into extravagant.

"I was about to say, this feels almost more like a local festival than just a simple birthday party," he said. "You must be really good friends."

Peter wasn't exactly popular at his previous schools. Being an insufferable know-it-all tended to curb your attempts at friendship from a lot of people.

Karla shrugged a bit. "I'd say we are, most definitely." Even before the whole escapade down in Bon Temps, though stopping a serial killer together was probably good for some kind of bond. "But I'm also a sucker for throwing huge parties. The planning is just about as fun as the party itself, sometimes."

She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and added softly, "It's a nice way to thank someone for being a friend, too." Peter wasn't the only one who hadn't had many friends before coming to Fandom.

Peter nodded. "Fair enough," he said. "You know, I keep expecting there to be grass skirts and a roast pig somewhere. But that's probably not quite the same theme."

He smiled. "Hopefully I'll have the same sort of friends in October."

"Grass skirts and roast pigs?" Karla asked. Neither of those things had come up during her fifteen minute search for tiki party on the Google. "And when in October?"

Karla: stealth ninja spy.

"Hawaiian thing," Peter said. "I'm probably even completely off with the tiki being remotely related."

"October 18th, if you must know," he added, after a moment.

"What's Hawaiian?" Karla asked. "And I wasn't asking for any reason in particular," she added looking innocent.

"It's a state," Peter said. "Or to be more accurate, pertaining to a state. Like where we are, this is technically Virginia. Hawaii is in the Pacific Ocean, a state made up of a series of volcanic islands."

"Like the Fyreborn Islands!" Karla said happily. "Only, y'know, here. In this world. And almost certainly not inhabited by dragons."

"Certainly," Peter repeated, amused. "At least, not in my version of things. I'm sure someone here is from a world with dragons in Hawaii. It's bound to happen eventually."
