The Park, Most of Sunday

Had the carnival changed? Retreated? No, but perhaps it had filled up even worse over the past twenty-four hours or so.

The look on that mustached man's face certainly exuded a certain amount of triumph as the lights went on again early on Sunday morning. He stabbed the ground with his cane and watched; if experience counted for anything, then there would be yet more pouring into his carnival today.

The feeding was good, here.

That scent of cotton candy rolled over the island once more, and the carnival's music touched what it could not.

It's a new day, Fandom. Come, enjoy it.

"If that's what you enjoy, why not try our Temple of Temptation?" Cecil tried once more. Honestly, some people were so hard to please! "Our dancers are superb, and our contortionist can give you a hug you'll never forget!" He tried to steer her that way so he could get on with helping less tiresome customers.

Figuring she'd done enough talking, Korra tried lunging for Cecil. "I'd rather hug you."

Avatar Korra, master of diplomacy and persuasion, everyone.

"I'm not - oof!" Not a trained fighter, among other things. Korra might not have managed a hug first try, but he wasn't going to get away, either.

The carnival had her back up enough that Korra wasn't going to risk hurting someone with her bending, but she had something almost as good. "Naga!"

Sorry, Cecil, you had a polar bear dog trying to pick you up by the back of your shirt like an errant cub.

"What - put me down!" Cecil squirmed and tried to tug himself free without ripping anything. He flailed about, and unless she dodged, Korra was probably going to get kicked. "I'm a barker, not a sack of potatoes! If you want to do a test of strength, it's that way!"

"Oof." Yeah, that was gonna bruise if she didn't take some time to heal it later.

But hey, if he was close enough to kick, she was close enough to hug. So Korra went for the hug.

"What the -" Cecil wasn't finishing a lot of sentences today. "What are you doing? Let go of me!" He squirmed and tried to push her off, but something about the large...whatever-it-was...that had him by the neck made that a little hard. "Stop it!"

"Nope," Korra replied, hugging tighter. "I think you really need this hug."

"I do not!" Cecil protested. He squirmed and thrashed. "I'm fine!" He kicked desperately a few times, then stilled.

That was now, still Korra kept on hugging. "Cecil?"

"I..." and Cecil was blurring at the edges, getting smaller. "No, don't!" But it was a weak protest, and after a moment he was back in a teenaged body again.

He blinked a lot, then tried to look back at Naga and down at Korra and around at the carnival all at once, and... "Oh."

Between Cecil growing smaller, and Naga releasing his shirt to try and lick him instead, Korra figured it had worked and loosened her hug, though she'd check first before letting go completely. "Feeling better?"

"I..." Yeah, the sentence-finishing wasn't getting much better. He couldn't help a giggle at Naga, though, even if that was an awfully big tongue slobbering on him. "Maybe?" He'd been really pushy, hadn't he? And probably made people get hurt. And he'd been older and hadn't even remembered Carlos!

He sighed and reached up to scritch Naga, if that was okay. "I think so."

"Good," Korra said, letting go of Cecil. "Guess there's something in this whole hugging thing."

Naga for her part, started wagging her tail and leaning in against Cecel's hand.

And now Naga was getting a hug if she'd sit still for it. Because she was warm and fuzzy and cuddly. Cecil sighed. "Is everybody going to be okay?" He remembered and looked around. "Have you seen Raven?" she'd been with him on the carousel!

Naga would sit still for all the hugs.

""I think so, if we get enough huggers. It was a pity the Avatar state wasn't really capable of spirit hugs. "No, but I haven't really had a chance to look around."

"I should go and find her. And I can hug people!" He did his best to stand up straight and smooth out his well-licked hair.

"Then I say you know what you've gotta do," Korra said.

Cecil nodded and looked up - damn it - at her. "Thanks."
