The Beach, Friday Evening

The weather was still a little cloudy in the evening, but it was warm enough that hopefully people would still feel like partying. There was certainly enough food for a party, along with cool drinks and equipment for beach games like beach volleyball. Or beach dodgeball. Or beach something-else-with-balls because the residents and alumni of Fandom tended to be a creative ~~and violent~~ lot.

As the sun went down, the tiki torches came out, so there was no rush to head back indoors. It was time for an evening of fun!

"Keeps his giant karking head from inflating so much he flies into the atmosphere," Cade said. "How are you?"

"Usually handling that task." Granted, she worried a lot less about Peter's inflated ego. For the most part, she found he had reason enough to have one. "Other than that, busy with work and school."

Cade made a face. "I'm karking done with school. I have a spaceship!"

Very impressive, Cade.

"Well, some of us need university degrees instead of spaceships," Natalie told him, mildly. How else? "But good for you."

"Thank you," Cade said proudly. "It's got a lot of weapons."

"And do you often need a lot of weapons?"

It seemed like a logical question to ask.

"More often than not," Cade admitted. "I'm a bounty hunter now."

"... Right."

Was she surprised? She actually wasn't sure. So, she opted for a frown.

"It's a living," he said, sounding a little defensive.

Most people just don't choose it, Cade.

"It just sounds potentially dangerous," she explained, still eyeing him with a mild frown. "Well, not even so much with the 'potentially'."

"Well, yeah," Cade admitted, "but I'm not exactly cut out to work in a cantina without dying of boredom."

"And those two are the only options?"

You were getting so much mild eyebrow-raising, Cade.

Not at all.

"...yes?" Cade tried.

"I really don't think so," Natalie told him. "I mean, if that's the kind of life you want, that's okay. But let's not pretend the options were that limited."

"They weren't, but I have a ship and no connections into legal shipping stuff, so it's either bounty hunting or piracy."
