The Beach, Friday Evening

The weather was still a little cloudy in the evening, but it was warm enough that hopefully people would still feel like partying. There was certainly enough food for a party, along with cool drinks and equipment for beach games like beach volleyball. Or beach dodgeball. Or beach something-else-with-balls because the residents and alumni of Fandom tended to be a creative ~~and violent~~ lot.

As the sun went down, the tiki torches came out, so there was no rush to head back indoors. It was time for an evening of fun!

"That's because I was kidnapped and we missed the reservations Do you know how hard it is to get into that place?"

"I think I might have an idea, yeah," Jaime chuckled. "But you're here now," and wearing short shorts, "so it's all good."

She smiled and tried to feed him one of her grapes. "Can I tell you what the secret part was going to be, or do you want to wait until I get the new reservations?"

Jaime took the grape, and then reached up to catch her hand so that he could press a slow kiss to her finger. "Hmm... tough choice... I'll let you decide." He had a finger to distract him.

"Not fair; you're distracting me. I want to tell you everything, if it will keep getting me kisses."

"What if I promised you could keep getting kisses either way?" Jaime asked between said kisses.

"Trying to bribe a former officer of the law?" she asked. "Because it's totally working."

"You know all those date nights I had to cancel?"

"Mmhmm," Jaime said, half listening and half focusing on Momoko's wrist.

"I was..." She took a deep breath and nearly lost hold of the plate of food in her other hand. "It was because I was taking a dance class."

Haaaaaaaah.

"Oh?" Jaime said, his head coming up for a moment to look at her. "Dance class?" He didn't let go of her hand, though.

Whew. She'd been about to drop her plate and offer him her other arm, too!

"Yes! I learned the Flamenco and the Salsa and the Bachata and of course the Texas two-step." Momoko giggled. "Oh! And the Merengue. I'm not as good at that one." Hmm.... was she missing one...?

Jaime blinked. "Sounds like a pretty intensive class," he allowed, shaking his head, clearly impressed.

"That's why I kept missing so many dates! We had lots of classes and she made us do reading on each of them so we could understand them!!" Ugh. Just remembering it all made her tired.

"We didn't get perfect at them, just the basics, but the place we were going to have dinner has a dance floor and I was going to take you dancing for a surprise and show you!"

A slow, warm, rather interested smile spread across Jaime's face. "Really?" he asked. "We were going to Salsa?"

He still had her hand, but his eyes were entirely focused on Momoko's face by now.

Then he noticed the light blush coming over her face, didn't he? He'd zeroed in on the one dance she'd been practicing the hardest at.

"What? You don't enjoy the Two-Step?"

"It's fine," Jaime said, a stray thought returning some of his attention to Momoko's hand.

Which he raised to his lips for a soft kiss. "I'm just more interested in the Salsa at the moment."

"Well, my new dancing dress is pretty easy to move in. I could be convinced to Salsa."

"Convinced, you say?" Jaime looked down Momoko's arm at her face. "And how would I go about doing some convincing?"

She had to laugh at that, despite her continuing blush. "I don't think there's going to be a chance for us to salsa here, you know."

Had there even been a dance scheduled for this weekend?

"We could try," Jaime pointed out. Though the sand wasn't really the best surface for a precise dance like the Salsa. At all.

"Not in these shorts!" duh! "Though if you want..."

She stepped in closer and swayed gently, barely. "When it gets a little darker we can find a spot, Scarab can play some radio, and we can slow dance a little before we go back to the hotel?"

"I don't know," Jaime smirked slightly. "I like those shorts..."

"And that sounds like something totally worth doing."

She moved the hand he was holding to her back so his arm went around her and rested on those shorts. "Yay. I do like dancing with you."

Jaime's fingers shifted ever so slightly. Touching Momoko always sent a little thrill through him, and he couldn't help but smile. "We don't do it very often," he pointed out quietly.

"That's why I thought it would be a perfect present. Especially since I had the chance to take the class."
