Fandom Pride Parade: Saturday Afternoon

The day started with a rainbow. Not that there had been any rain last night, really. The island, noticing the ~~handwavy~~ posters up around town, had figured it wanted to contribute to the spirit of the whole thing, and slapping a big, bright rainbow into the sky had seemed like the obvious way to do it. By around noon, it was clear that the rainbow was going to be sticking around, too, less a meteorological phenominon and more a banner painted across the sky. Down below, little flowers had popped up overnight in bright colours, some mimicking the rainbow up above, some in other configurations; pink-purple-blue, blue-pink-white-pink-blue, black-grey-white-purple, yellow-white-purple-black, and so on. The flowers, fortunately, were there to be pretty, with no other weird effects on the island's populace.

Though, really, if presenting a bouquet of them to one's favourite person ended well for somebody, the island wasn't going to complain, either.

The parade itself was to start on the Causeway, a good gathering point for Fandomites in the past, and a fairly central location on the island. From there it would follow Griffin Lane to Galactica Drive, Serendipity Place, Godiva Street, back onto Serendipity and following it until it turned into Loon and Loon turned into Chimera. Then one final turn onto Apocalypse before ending up at the Park, where people were welcome to sit and mingle to their hearts' content.

The weather was nice, making liars out of the meteorologists in favour of shunting clouds aside for sunshine and a pleasant breeze. A perfect day for a parade!

Hardison showed up rocking out with the bi and poly pride. Eliot had stayed up late working on craft projects with Kathy or something and now Hardison had multiple little knotwork accessories announcing. He was shirtless because Pride, dammit, and sign that said 'I refuse to be invisible.'

Hmm. Could he make Eliot make him a flower crown out of those pink, purple, and blue flowers?

"I mean, I know what the sign means and all." Eliot said, tipping his hat and leaning into Hardison's space. "But anyone who wouldn't notice you is a damn idiot."

Hardison slid his arms around his boyfriend and pulled him in closer. "How 'bout folks who notice me but still play hard to get for seven years?" he teased. "Nice hat."

"They're worth the effort," Eliot said. "Clearly. And I'm tellin' Trudy you said that. I be she can find another one just like it for you."

"Nah, nah, I don't think I could wear that hat with the same kind of...panache...you got goin' on right now."

Keep back peddling, Hardison.

"So, you wanna explain to me all the handicrafts? Did it get summer camp up in here an' I missed it?"

Well. It was July.

"Kathy was makin' 'em to sell tomorrow at her Dite's booth. All she knew how to make was basic stripes, so I pitched in." And then stole a bunch of her beads for his hair. As you do.

And Deadpool had been running an arts and crafts workshop last term...

"I always liked the wider ones with the chevrons," Hardison noted, because of course he had opinions on friendship bracelets.

Poor Kathy. So ignorant about bracelets.

"Right? And man, you should see some of the patterns I found online for these suckers. Kids these days're damn creative."

"What was that?" Hardison asked, grinning. "Did you say...online? As in, you were? As in, Eliot used the internet an' found it useful?"

"For friendship bracelets," Eliot pointed out. "Ain't exactly earth-shatterin'."

"It was you an' the internet, hell yeah it was," Hardison declared. "I'm proud of you."

Eliot reached over for their handshake, even as he scowled and glared.

"Shut up."

"Make me," Hardison said.

This was them flirting.

And if anyone had any doubts about that, Eliot hooking a finger into one of Hardison's new accessories and pulling him is for a kiss would hopefully put them to rest.

Happy Pride, y'all. You got to watch two really hot guys kiss like there was no need for oxygen.

"...Damn," Hardison said when the kiss was finally over. "You sure we needta march?"

"You'd pout if you ended up missin' it."

"No I wouldn't!"

Yes, he would.

"Tell ya what," Eliot said, voice low in Hardison's ear. "You just dance on down that parade thinkin' about what Parker'n me are gonna do to ya when we all get home after."

Hardison shivered, and pulled Eliot back for another kiss. He needed to do that before he could even think about forming words for a response to that.

"You know I'm a damn imaginative man, right?" he asked, voice coming from somewhere deep in his chest.

Parker was wearing all the colors and all the feathers. Because why not? Yeah, it would be pretty difficult to miss her.

"Thank you for being shirtless," she said to Hardison, very seriously.

Privately, Hardison was taking bets on how soon he'd end up wearing the headdress when it became too hot or heavy for Parker to wear.

"For you, mama, anytime," he said, winking at her. "Though I gave some thought to your flag dress instead."

He probably wasn't wrong about that. And wouldn't he look awesome with it, all bare-chested with feathers?

"You could have pulled it off," Parker said consideringly, straightening her head-dress. "But I like this better. You have great legs but your chest is even nicer."

"My chest is pleased you approve, mama," Hardison told her, beaming. Look, he was proud of his chest, especially with all the hard work that went into...well, okay, not doing anything to maintain it. "Did I hear you an' Eliot makin' plans on takin' advantage of it later?"

"More the situation than your chest," Parker told him. "'Cause no one expects the Pride-filled Inquisition." HA!~

"I most certainly did not!" Hardison said, looking really put out about getting taken advantage of by his sexy partners, oh yes.

By the time the parade was over, there were going to be maybe four people left, either marching or on the sidelines. The rest would all be off somewhere, celebrating Pride a little more viscerally.
