The day started with a rainbow. Not that there had been any rain last night, really. The island, noticing the ~~handwavy~~ posters up around town, had figured it wanted to contribute to the spirit of the whole thing, and slapping a big, bright rainbow into the sky had seemed like the obvious way to do it. By around noon, it was clear that the rainbow was going to be sticking around, too, less a meteorological phenominon and more a banner painted across the sky. Down below, little flowers had popped up overnight in bright colours, some mimicking the rainbow up above, some in other configurations; pink-purple-blue, blue-pink-white-pink-blue, black-grey-white-purple, yellow-white-purple-black, and so on. The flowers, fortunately, were there to be pretty, with no other weird effects on the island's populace.

Though, really, if presenting a bouquet of them to one's favourite person ended well for somebody, the island wasn't going to complain, either.

The parade itself was to start on the Causeway, a good gathering point for Fandomites in the past, and a fairly central location on the island. From there it would follow Griffin Lane to Galactica Drive, Serendipity Place, Godiva Street, back onto Serendipity and following it until it turned into Loon and Loon turned into Chimera. Then one final turn onto Apocalypse before ending up at the Park, where people were welcome to sit and mingle to their hearts' content.

The weather was nice, making liars out of the meteorologists in favour of shunting clouds aside for sunshine and a pleasant breeze. A perfect day for a parade!

"I'm permitted to be proud of that too, I think," Hannibal answered with a somewhat smug smile. "In several ways."

//Including the sort with rainbows,// Jono agreed lightly. //Nice makeup, by th'way.//

It was hard not to notice the eyeliner. It was doing fantastic things for Hannibal's eyes.

And Jono's libido. Ahem.

Hannibal chuckled. "Sparkle insisted. Apparently my suit alone was far too staid for the day."

Jono looked faintly amused at that.

//Wonder what he thinks of my leathers.//

Jono, you were wearing a pansexual pride flag as a cape, and everything else looked like bondage gear. You were fine.

"Your leathers are fine," Hannibal assured him. "And the flag is plenty of color."

It was very bright. It made up for all the black, really.

"Although you could always try to match those colors with your flames, if you wanted to."

//... I don't think I've ever managed pink before,// Jono said, after a pause. //Never really tried, but it's not exactly one of fire's usual tones.//

Did anybody have any potassium on hand?

"Have you ever attempted two colors at once?" Hannibal asked. "Even red, blue, and yellow would be quite a feat."

//Sounds exhuasting,// Jono decided after a pause to consider. //Though I can shift from one to the other fairly easily, sustaining a few at a time, consciously...//

He shrugged.

//For what? Because it's pretty?//

"For that, and for the challenge," Hannibal said. "But not if it's going to exhaust you."

Jono considered that for a moment, and then said, //I'll give it a try after th'parade, perhaps. Or tomorrow, near the end of the picnic. I don't mind sleeping through Monday, but I don't want to miss the rest of this weekend.//

Not just because he'd organized it, either.

Hannibal nodded. "And until then, you have the flag."

The very bright, not particularly fashionable flag that Hannibal was nonetheless not going to judge this weekend.
