The dates were over, and now it was time to see if anyone actually managed to hook up.

Well, at least that's totally what Jaye was watching for as she took her place behind the bar, ready to maybe talk to some people who weren't terrible and make Tino serve the drinks that Kitty had asked them to do. Listen, Jaye only made it to her shifts like half the time, she had to ease back into this whole bartending thing.

Someone was starting on their fourth drink of the night! And someone was also a vastly reduced body weight than the last time he drank, so...

"A water," Five said to the bar top. Which was cool and comforting.

"Hey buddy," Annie greeted him, sliding onto the adjacent barstool. If she hadn't known how old Five actually was, this might have been a touch more alarming. Instead, she was all sympathy -- probably more sympathy than he'd like, honestly -- leaning her chin in her hand. "How're we doing?"

Annie was here, nursing a beer and finding all of this deeply hilarious, yes.

It was kind of nice to be skipped for something, for once! Like, she didn't know how -- maybe Tino knew Tiny and thus knew that Annie was, like, Tiny's best friend and not to mess with her? But it was pretty great getting to just be a spectator for this thing.

Annie got a hesitant and small wave from Stark. He had cried a bit on her shoulder the other night and that was awkward, even if the speed dating tonight had not been.

What was the protocol for that sort of thing, anyway?

Faye had gotten to talk to four cute guys and one fairly interesting -- if strange and suspiciously old-timey -- woman, and now she was quite content to sit at the bar and work her way through the specials board.

It was a nice change from pointing at bottles, at least, since this cocktail she had was both delicious and sort of charmingly pretty.

That had been a miserable experience but you know what? Could have been worse. He could be passed out on the bar right now like some other people he knew.

Rey had a friend promise a drink, so she'd stick around for a while. Besides, watching people after this kind of thing was a little bit fun.

Travis definitely needed a drink or two after that whole adventure (and now he understood why Tino just kind of sighed up anyone who showed up).

And anyway, the social scene in this town seemed to be almost entirely based around its bars, so. You know. He might as well stick around and try to make friends.

And it turned out that there was plenty of awkwardness and intimidation to be had with Travis after all, it was just delayed until after their round, apparently. Because not caught up in the moment the way he had when they were talking, it started to creep in the more Prompto thought about going up and talking to him. Like, even though they totally threw around the idea, maybe he was just being nice? Or what if, like...he said he was surprised that a lot of people didn't use this as a dating thing, which...did that mean that he was expecting a dating thing? And so did that mean...but that...no, that was...that was ridiculous, there was, like, no way...and then Prompto couldn't figure out if the fact that he was leaving again tomorrow was a good case for that he should go talk to him or that he could probably get away with not seemingly like a jerk or whatever if he didn't...

...ultimately, though, he realized he would have felt...awkward if he did. More awkward? Anyway, he was clearly overthinking things.

Haha, yeah, right, Prompto, overthinking things? Never!

He could probably throw Ignis out as an emergency escape reaosn if he needed to, too. It was fine.

So there came Prompto, after he'd shot the shit with Ignis a little bit, and absolutely with an obnoxiously thematic cocktail in hand. "Heyyyyyy, so...how'd the last one go?"

Ulysses was still getting a beer right now. Maybe looking around to see if Illyana was still hanging around. (Or if he'd missed any cute people he hadn't gotten dates with.)

This had been less awkward for Stark than the last time Tino signed him up for one of these things, so at least there was that. If he were being honest it had been much less awkward than the last time. It was possible he was getting better at talking to people (don't think he didn't notice that smug look on your face, Tino).

He could stay around for a bit and try one of the drink specials and perhaps even talk some more.

Lydia wasn't a big drinker, nor was she especially...social, but that had almost been kind of fun and she didn't want to head back to the dorms just yet. So she lingered at the bar, sipping a Shirley Temple with about a half-dozen extra cherries floating around in it.

Look, you liked what you liked, okay. Even if it didn't always go with your gothy try-hard aesthetic.

Prompto had promised that if Ignis went along with this whole thing, there'd be a drink with his name on it at the end of it, but as he found his way to the bar and considered the specials while waiting, he wasn't quite so sure this was necessarily a good thing...

Seivarden decided to stay around for a bit, just to see if there was anyone here she hadn't talked to, or to see if any of the brief conversations she had had was worth continuing.

Or to just finish her drink. She was doing well with the pacing nowadays. Did Breq know that?
