The dates were over, and now it was time to see if anyone actually managed to hook up.

Well, at least that's totally what Jaye was watching for as she took her place behind the bar, ready to maybe talk to some people who weren't terrible and make Tino serve the drinks that Kitty had asked them to do. Listen, Jaye only made it to her shifts like half the time, she had to ease back into this whole bartending thing.

"My specialty," Faye assured him with a bright smile, flourishing her hands in a mock-bow.

She was not going to share that the last class had been on how to flirt your way to free drinks. Seemed like a bad thing to tell the guy who you were hoping was gonna pay for at least some of your drinks.

SPEAKING OF.

"Can I get you a drink?"

"You sure can," Faye decided, since her glass was just about empty and if it had gone much longer she would have probably started slurping the dregs up through her straw in a very subtle hint. "That margarita sounds fun. This might be the first holiday I've seen here that I actually get and like."

It helped that they still had the concept of Valentine's Day in the future. Also it was her name. (But only because they still had valentines in the future.)

And that'd be Nick gesturing to Tino for a margarita. "What do you like about it?"

It was better to ask than to talk about his stuff he wasn't thinking about.

"Chocolate. Pink things. My last name is Valentine," Faye offered with an easy smile. "Helps that it's still a thing in 2071."

'Spaceship' could be a euphemism, sure, but she was totally from the future, too.

Maybe she had voice typoed the year.

Look, Nick was clinging to that, because you know what he didn't need? A meltdown when he was talking to a hot girl. The meltdown was going to have to happen at a different time.

"So you're just in your element with all of this," he went with instead.

At least once he had the meltdown and had processed it, he'd probably get an invitation to go up to space with a hot girl in his lap.

"Something like that," she decided. "Though I've never done the speed-dating thing before. Is that a normal thing or a Fandom thing?"

"I know it was a thing people were doing a few years back, but I thought it kind of died out," Nick said. "Maybe it's something Fandom keeps going. But hey, it seems to be working out."

"At least in one case," Faye said, smiling at him over her glass. "Did you have fun on your other dates?"

She had! Mostly! But you were her favorite because you were currently funding her alcoholism, Nick, in addition to providing your cute face for her to look at.

"Well the guys I dated seemed okay, but not really my type," Nick laughed. "You definitely saved the night."

"Happy to help," Faye replied lightly, and maybe she was going to start up a little game of footsie here, don't mind her. "One out of five ain't bad, right?"

Well, okay then!

"Think we have to worry about any of your other dates?" he asked.

"Pff." Faye rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "I mean, obviously they all thought I was awesome," and at least two of them were absolutely going to be people she circled back to again, at another time, "but no, we don't need to worry about anyone. So like where do you live? 'Cause I'm across the street."

You know what they said about people who went on dates really close to their apartment.

"I live farther than across the street," Nick said. "So if you wanted to go back there at all..."
