Homecoming Carnival, The Park, Friday

The weather had been kind, and it was just the right amount of cool for a Halloween-themed Homecoming carnival. The booths and activities were ready for visitors, and the Halloween decorations and spooooky music playing everywhere aimed to set the right kind of mood for everyone.

Yes, there was also black and orange glitter everywhere, because of course there was. Feel free to take some home with you, because it's going to be difficult not to!

"It's been about about three weeks since I moved back," Liz told her, "I used to be a student here, graduated in 2010 but lost contact with Fandom when I went back home," she explained, "I run the Photo Hut now,"

"Hail, fellow newbie business owner, then," Steph said with a quick grin. "And... also time traveler, I guess?" She knew better than to try and dig too deep into the nitpicky details of trying to line up timelines.

"I just took over the game store, like... a week ago, but it's not a return for me or anything," she added. "You really came back, huh?"

She had no idea how many people that was true for, but it was a weird concept for her.

“Yeah it’s 2002 for me back home,” Liz nodded as she returned the grin, “so it’s taken some adjustment getting used to again,” she paused, “the opportunity to come back was too good to pass up,, it’s been a bit chaotic at home these last couple of months,” well that was one way of describing lost control on a mission and ended up facing arson and murder charges.

That was just a really mild understatement!

"Oh wow, that's more of an adjustment than I had to make, though I'm guessing... probably not the biggest one anyone around here ever has?" Steph scrunched up her face thoughtfully for a moment. "I was just... touring across the country and stumbled across this place and apparently I'm sticking around for a while." As one did.

“It’s pretty far spread where people come from time wise, mines pretty normal compared to others,” Liz said with a smile, “but Fandom’s a pretty nice place to live, aside from its …occasional eccentricities,” that was putting it mildly, “how much have you been told about the island?”

"I've been warned about the gremlins and possible invasions," Steph said, eyebrows inching upward. "There's more?"

“Those are pretty much the main ones to look for, not that I’ve been bit by a gremlin though,” she probably just gone and jinked herself now, “I know when I was here we used to have weekends where we’d turn into children or different versions of ourselves,” Liz hadn’t realised she’d just missed that last one by about a week.

"Like... from alternate realities?" asked Steph, who as of yet had no idea just how completely wild some people's ~~canon's~~ alternate realities could get. "Wow. That sounds kind of cool, but also maybe not, depending."

Like... what if there was an alternate reality where Arcadia Bay never got destroyed by a freak tornado, and her mom was still around?

“I think for some people they are,” Liz nodded in response, “I turned into a couple of versions of people who looked like me but that was really it as far as similarities,”

"An even broader definition than expected," Steph said. Maybe she could incorporate this concept into one of the campaigns she was working on? This place was going to make her players cry with all the new ideas it would give her.

Which was just fine with Steph.

"... but like, just for the weekend?"

Liz nodded, “usually just for the weekend for these type of events, sometimes they go into Monday but most of the time it was back to normal Monday morning,”

"Time-limited weirdness. That's... probably right on par with what I know of this place so far."

Steph, again, did not sound like she thought this was a bad thing.
