Fandom Pride Parade, Sunday, Noon

Yesterday's rainbow was still intact in the sky today, and the weather was pleasant and sunny -- maybe it was like Yang had said, and Pride got the island's stamp of approval. In any case, it was good parade weather. Sunscreen was still a good idea, though.

The parade route this year might be a bit different than it had been previously, starting up at the lighthouse to come down Jones Parkway, then east along Serendipity Place to Loon Drive, then down Unicorn Way to Apocalypse Avenue before turning back up Chimera Court to Mallard Street. It shouldn't be hard to follow the route, either: rainbow bunting was strung up between light poles, and Steph might have gotten a few of the businesses along the way to put flags up, too.

The route would take everyone to the park -- cleaned up after yesterday's festivities, amazingly, but there were still drinks and pastries waiting for everyone in the picnic area afterward. Hey, doing a parade on all those stairs deserved some kind of treat and definitely some rehydration.

Gather up by the lighthouse and do a little mingling beforehand. Steph will let people use the restroom at the Magpie Emporium if they need to, even.

While Sidon was busy rallying the puppy troops and giving them a very impassioned rallying speech before setting out, Sakaki was in charge of all the little details and mending any last minute tears or rips and costumes and making sure hats were on properly and avoiding the one cat in the parade who was staring her down and daring her to pet it, and then...

...and then the vet was definitely getting use out of the first aid kit they brought because Sakaki just could not help herself.

This is where you march, or spectate from along the route. Hell, jump in somewhere along the way and join in if you want to!

Also there's sparkly rainbow confetti? Don't ask where it's coming from, it just is.

Stark was there, of course. He'd said he would be. And he'd also promised cake and company to Summer if she wanted it. The strawberry brownies he'd made were hopefully close enough to cake to count. He'd thought they'd travel better if there ended up being too much walking (or too much heat).

Travis was not at all the most flamboyant gay man around — a fairly large percentage of his wardrobe was beige — but who was he to avoid a Pride parade when it ran right by his station?

He stepped out, a rainbow flag in his pocket, and gave Stark a look of happy surprise.

All of Sidon and Sakaki (and the vet)'s hard work over the last week was coming to a head now that it was time for the parade, and there was a veritable rainbow array of puppies in colorful costumes to provide Furnado's contributions to the weekend's events. Some of the better trained puppies paraded proudly in their get-ups faithfully along the parade route, while some of the rowdier and less...attentative ones were being pulled along in decorated wagons and carts. There was even a cat in attendance on one of them (Sidon had managed that one, obviously), although the vet kind of felt that wagon felt just a little preachy.

Gray wasn't marching in the parade, because, let's be real, he'd probably fall asleep halfway through the thing and someone would trip over him, but he'd found a nice spot along the route to hang out and cheer everyone on in between naps. Today he was wearing another very on brand t-shirt.

Belle was not in the parade, and hadn't made it to the picnic yesterday, but she was here today to watch. It seemed like it would an entertaining way to spend some time.

The confetti was a surprise, though it shouldn't have been.

Dwight had found himself a place to sit and watch the parade, and today he wasn't alone. A certain adorable little blonde beagle pup was tagging along, taking in all the sights and smells. Snoopy seemed to be enjoying himself as he barked a happy greeting to anyone walking by, seemingly proud of the snazzy rainbow cape he was wearing for the occasion.

Rey hadn't finished her work, but she also wanted to be supportive. It's just be her lunch.

She found a good spot to sit and watch, and to try- and fail- go avoid the confetti. She was gonna take her hair down later and find alllll of it.

Steven walked along the parade route with his cellphone in hand. Inspired by what Liz had told him of her love of photography, he was trying to take pictures not just of the parade itself but things which caught his eye, even if they weren't particularly photo worthy, like a balloon, or a cloud which struck him in just the right way.

Well, a parade meant Eddie had to attend for Chris to enjoy the whole thing. Even if he probably would be cleaning rainbow confetti out of the dryer for weeks after this. Positively weeks after this.

Of course Tony was there and not just because Father's Day was awkward with a rainbow bow tie clad corgi running around his feet because in no way had Steve managed to tire that dog out yesterday.

"Please don't eat the confetti," Tony said, knowing full well that there'd be some rainbow colored puke in his future.

Lucifer had missed the festival yesterday, but he wasn't about to miss this one grand chance to wear his sparkliest suit.

Ulysses had missed yesterday's festivities, but he managed to make it to the march. So, hey, he was only half a disaster queer for 2022! He was also not dressed in anything special, because let's face it, his everyday clothes were loud enough.

Anyway, man, it was weird to be in a parade that was this small, after LA.

(And he missed Ford and Carly something fierce, today.)

Steve's formative years were spent under Don't Ask, Don't Tell, so he was here but still fairly uncomfortable about it all.

His rainbow shirt was part of a Hawaiian tourism campaign, giving plausible deniability because that was still ingrained into him, but he found a spot near the parade route and a patch of wall to lean against.

Steph had put this whole thing together, so of course she was here, in a different rainbow d20 tank top today.

She had a little Bluetooth speaker slung over her shoulder with a queer punk playlist cranked up, and was air-drumming her way along the parade route in time with the music like a cheerfully, unapologetically exuberant dork.

Yeah, this was probably the first time anyone had seen Illyana with a pride flag before, and she had two tiny pan flags sticking out the back of her hair-horn-buns, like tiny capes.

The rest of her was dressed as usual, because you couldn't take the goth out of the girl, but she was there to walk, and had water and sunscreen for anyone who had forgotten theirs.

Ghanima wasn't marching this year. Instead, she was set up midway along the route, clapping for her peers and students, and with bottles of water for anyone who needed to stop and rehydrate under the Fandom sun.

Jon wasn't quite ready to march in a parade, but he would absolutely stand by the side and wave people on. He was wearing an asexual panromantic shirt with pawprints, and if he was particularly smiling at the cat as it passed, could anybody blame him?

Obviously Vi wasn't going to bail on this after Steph had been so excited and put so much work in, but for some reason she couldn't put her finger on, it was a lot harder to muster the same easy enthusiasm she'd felt yesterday.
