With classes over, and no new kids to worry about yet, Cara was deeply bored behind the bar tonight.

Not, however, bored enough to help Tino with whatever it was he was doing with all those buckets. She did make sure there was no glue handy, because she'd learnt that lesson with the glasses.

Cara had spent most of the previous week back in the Midlands with Richard and Kahlan... because reasons, and things there hadn't gotten at all awkward at any point... because reasons, so she had no idea why Tino was looking so sadly at a bucket.

Surprisingly enough, she didn't much care, either.

Cara was awesome, thanks. Not that she had any reason not to be, and if you asked that's exactly what she'd tell you. Awesome.

Never mind that her hand had barely left her agiels, or that Tino had placed himself as far away as possible from her while still being behind the bar without her even having said a single word to him all night.

The Zin Ship Above Fandom, Sunday Morning and Afternoon

Simulation 45y was failing.

Angry red lights were going off everywhere. Along with claxons. Too many claxons. Zin were running around, trying to shut off one claxon after another.

There was a lot of yelling.

And pods kept opening.

That was inconvenient.

When Cara arrived for her shift, Tino proudly showed off his glass castle that covered half the bar to her, and if pressed, she had to admit that it was both very large and not falling over.

Then she'd gone to take a glass off the top (because he'd used all the shot glasses and more than a few of the others) to pour a drink for a customer, and found out why it wasn't falling over.

So now Tino had several bottles of nail-polish remover and was attempting to un-glue all the glasses while Cara glared at him.

The Boardwalk | Tuesday Afternoon

Spoilers for The 100 1x06 )

Bellamy whipped around, expecting to see Finn behind him, ready with a lecture on being more careful but there was nothing. He was alone. Alone and in a completely different place. There weren't any trees surrounding him, no dirt beneath his boots. He still had his gun and he raised it defensively, not sure what the hell kind of trick this was.

Bellamy knew there were parts of Earth they hadn't yet explored but this was impossible. There were buildings in the distance, well kept and bright. They looked lived in. It was hotter here than it had been just a minute ago and Bellamy felt perspiration slide into his eyes.

A noise caught his attention and Bellamy turned, eyes settling on the ocean nearby. He'd heard about these on the Ark, even seen the massive blue masses from space but to be this close to one? Impossible. There was no way.

Where the hell was he?

[ Open, of course. Bellamy's on the boardwalk, confused as hell and holding a gun. Please note: he most likely won't give the gun up but he does know how to handle it and might take you as a threat at first. He's not going to shoot anyone. ]

There were no sharks, gummy or otherwise, behind the bar today, which Cara supposed was a relief.

At least until Tino decided to start using shot glasses like building blocks, which predictably fell victim to gravity, then she could have used a shark or two.\

Whatever insanity had infected the island last week, seemed to have worn off, so Cara was anticipating a less damp shift. What she wasn't anticipating was that all the bottles in the various fridges would have vanished and been replaced with tray after tray of shot-glasses filled with blue jelly and shark gummies.

After glaring at Tino and receiving protestations that these weren't his handiwork, and a dubious taste-test to see if there was actually alcohol in them, Cara sighed and got out the specials board.

Special
Shark shots

Cara was having something of a trying evening. It had taken her very little time to realise she was having one of those shifts.

There had been an astonishing number of townspeople arriving at the bar who she'd had never laid eyes on before. With disturbing regularity they'd order something they obviously couldn't handle, act as if Cara was the least bit interested in hearing their life stories, jump on the stage to start singing, and to cap it all off, they'd declare undying love for her and kiss her. Or rather, attempt to kiss her.

Then, after she'd trudged all the way back from the duck pond, there'd be yet another idiot at the bar, ready to start the whole thing over.

At least it was a relatively warm night.

Without any classes to prepare or students to torment for their own good, Cara was bored. Mind-numbingly, bone-deep bored. Bored enough to let Tino start experimenting with the drinks again.

But not bored enough to actually risk drinking any of them. Save that for the customers.

This morning's gremlin bite still hadn't worn off yet. You could tell by the fact Cara was wearing almost the exact same outfit she'd had on in class (just less sweaty), and that she'd actually shown up at all.

Right now she was pouring shots of brightly coloured spirits into a blender along with milk and ice. "They're fruit liqueurs so they're healthier," she cheerfully explained to Tino.

Um, no, Cara, that wasn't how it worked.

Special
Half-Off Smoothies.

After last week, Cara had made it clear that Tino was not allowed to experiment with anything on nights when she was working.

Somehow, this had resulted in Cara deciding to experiment with various drinks to see what happened. So far all it seemed to be doing was making her drunk, very quickly, with varying degrees of palatability. Success?

Cara was in a relatively good mood as she began her shift tonight.

Then Tino arrived, bearing a pizza box and proudly unveiled his creation for her approval.

"No."

After some mostly unavoidable absences, Cara was back behind the bar, trying to remind herself it was a good thing she'd been small and fuzzy enough for the island's weirdness to pass her by the last weekend. She hadn't cracked open a bottle of something strong enough to distract her from her thoughts yet, but she was eyeing one pensively.

Special
1/2 price on drinks that don't need aging.

Cara was in a pleasant enough, if confused, mood as she took up her place behind the bar tonight, a large book full of diagrams in front of her.

It was uncertain how long this mood would last though, as Tino kept offering her notes with party ideas on them.

Given Cara's usual attire, the heating system thankfully seemed to be working properly today, and she was deep in preparations for tomorrow's final.

That was precisely what she was doing. She certainly wasn't leaning back against the wall and watching Tino doing all the work. They just happened to look exactly the same.

Normally Cara wasn't the kind of person to constantly keep her phone nearby. Or on. Or even charged most of the time. A decision which was more than justified by things like the start of the month.

Except tonight she'd brought it to the bar, and was either keeping it within arms reach, or actually had it in her hands, fiddling with it. She wasn't even sure what she was doing.

Half-Price Drinks
You know why.

Cara wasn't precisely cheerful as she took her place behind the bar tonight, but she was definitely far more relaxed than she'd been since break.

Relaxed enough to make up a specials board that at any other time might have been unwise.

Drinks with dirty names, 1/2 off.

After skipping her shift last week due to evil shopkeepers, which she considered a perfectly reasonable thing to do, Cara was back behind the bar. Mostly.

Sometimes she was back in her apartment, or making the trek back to the bar from there, and at least once she'd rapidly switched between here and there. But for the most part she was behind the bar. In a wonderfully cheerful mood.

Outside Needful Things, Friday, At Sunset

Somewhere behind the fog, the sun was setting. The Fandomites had long since lost track of time, but Leland knew, instinctively, that day had turned to night. The way he knew that all of the items he had sold those wretched humans had been destroyed. They would come for him, now, content in their victory.

This was a serious setback, to be sure, but they had won a battle, not the war. They could pretend to lock him in a cage. It wouldn't change the end.

Leland Gaunt poured himself a glass of Bordeaux and waited.

The windows and doors of the shop had been boarded over, in an attempt to convey just how very closed the store was. Leland didn't imagine it would give them any real pause, now.

Arresting Leland Gaunt! )
