Caritas, Wednesday Evening

Jarod whistled as he opened the bar, to the point where the zombies were elbowing each other in a knowing fashion and Tino kept hoping for some good gossip, which he wouldn't get. When it was quiet, Jarod once again worked on his laptop, closing it when he sensed anyone coming close enough to read the screen.

A sign was posted on the door:

WELCOME TO FANDOM, NEW STUDENTS AND TEACHERS!

"London," Rose said with a flourish, "Oh, and if the whole audience in the stadium vanish for, oh, a few minutes don't worry about it. They'll appear again."

"Oh?" he pressed. "What happened?"

"Just... there was an alien kid throwing a tantrum," Rose said, not really caring what the Doctor had said. A kid throwing a tantrum is still a kid throwing a tantrum. "I eventually convinced it to go home and return all the people it's taken as 'playmates'."

"Oh dear." Clark winced. "They can be troublesome at times can't they."

Rose rolled her eyes. "Tell me about it, I really don't get other people's urge to have children. It'll be a long time before that'll ever happen. And thanks to my little sister, it only reinforced my resolve."

Clark snerked a bit into his drink. "I meant Aliens." he chuckled.

"Oh, of course," Rose laughed, "I meant those too. Mind, some aliens are lovely. Makes-up for the other half that are mostly blob monsters."

Clark nodded. "Not long before I came here three aliens tried to take over my world. But another of their own species stopped them."

Rose was intrigued with this. "Really? What sort of aliens where they?"

"They were called Kryptonians." he explained. "For the most part they looked just like humans, only with super powers."

After thinking about it for a minute she said, "Never heard of them, what sort of super powers do they have?"

"Well they were much stronger than humans for a start." he said. "They were faster, were virtually invulnerable, and they could fly. For starters."

"They sound unstoppable. Any weaknesses?" It was a sign of her regaining sobriety that she's asking these questions and taking care to remember the answers.

"I'm sure they must have had some," Clark said. "there were three of them and only one of Superman, but he managed to defeat them anyway."

"Superman?" Rose bit her lip trying not to smile.

"It was the name The Daily Planet, that was the paper I worked for, came up with for him." Clark said. "The public seemed to glom onto it."

"What makes this bloke so 'super' then?" Rose asked, "Must be somethin' special, not a lot of people would go around bandying that term around. A few 'fantastics' and 'brilliants' but not a lot of 'supers'."

"Well he had the same powers as the others." Clark explained. "I believe he was described, in the first article about him, as `some kind of Super Man`. And as I said, the public sort of glommed onto that as his name."

"So, this Superman is more like... an ally to Earth?"

"Absolutely." Clark said. "He's, well, he's kind of a er, super hero." He sounded embarresed to say it.

Rose's eyes lit-up. "But that's brilliant! We don't have superheroes where I'm from, could use him a time or two fending off some invasions."

Clark looked slightly chagrined. "Well he has stopped at least one on my world."

"Block-wise that's rather good on him. Wouldn't want any Earth to be invaded." Rose said, smiling.

"Most of the problems he's had to deal with were normal things, stopping robberies, saving people from accidents, that sort of thing. Contrary to what the comics would have you believe, the big things don't happen every month it seems."

"Yeah, that's true, normally it's the domestic stuff that has law enforcement agencies busy." Rose realized how that sounded and added. "So they say."
