Fourth of July BBQ Part 2, Galactica Point, 11 a.m. till ?

Anyone coming down to the beach to enjoy the holiday would find that it's been prepared for the perfect holiday celebration. There's chairs and umbrellas, sand and water toys, food, music, and volleyball nets. Wood has been stacked for a bonfire once the sun goes down and a sign is posted advertising fireworks at 10:00 p.m.

Come celebrate the Fourth of July!

"I haven't had sunburn around you before?"

"Possibly," she says. "I don't think I've heard it called that before, though."

"Just means the skin gets red and painful," he says. "Unless...you wanna put sunscreen on me?"

"Yep." He tosses the bottle at her.

She catches the bottle, getting to her knees. "Sit up," she says.

He does, almost giddy about her doing this.

She squeezes some of the lotion into her hand to rub onto his shoulders and chest. This would be more fun if it didn't actually smell like sunblock.

"You do this well," he says, closing his eyes and enjoying it.

"It's not as if it's hard," she says, but she does smile a little.

"Doesn't matter," he says, sighing. "You still do it well."

"Thank you," she says quietly, leaning forward to kiss his jaw before moving behind him to get his back.

"I should get you to do this all the time," John says. "Save me from a sunburn."

"You don't seem to need me saving you from sunburn often," she points out.

"I will make it so I need saving," he says.

"I'm sure there are other ways that don't involve actual danger from the sun."

"But none are as enjoyable as this," he says and grins over his shoulder.

She smiles back and kisses the back of his neck.

And frowns. "Yes, I put lotion there."

"I will be super protected from the sun," he says, stretching his neck. "Thanks."

"You're welcome," she says, reaching over to cap the bottle again.

She blinks. "Um."

"With the lotion," he says, rolling his eyes.

"Oh," she says. "Um. Sure." She's not sure if she can burn- though she should, considering her species is primarily spaceborn- but she won't turn it down.

He poured some lotion in his hands and started rubbing the lotion into her shoulders and back.
