Fourth of July BBQ Part 2, Galactica Point, 11 a.m. till ?

Anyone coming down to the beach to enjoy the holiday would find that it's been prepared for the perfect holiday celebration. There's chairs and umbrellas, sand and water toys, food, music, and volleyball nets. Wood has been stacked for a bonfire once the sun goes down and a sign is posted advertising fireworks at 10:00 p.m.

Come celebrate the Fourth of July!

"I think we can get one of the swirly portals like I took to Scotland," Molly told him. "That won't make you sick like jumping does, would it?"

"That would be better, if it can be arranged. I don't think my visit would be much fun if I spent it lying in bed, sick to my stomach." He settled back against the log, eyes drifting again to the fire, unconciously drawing Molly against him. "The people you will be learning from, they won't mind if I distract you for a few days?"

Molly shook her head. "They shouldn't. They said I could have people visit one weekend. You will have to share me with the other people who visit." She smirked. "At least for a little bit."

"I would not be so rude as to try and keep you to myself," he teased, though he was suddenly not quite so sanguine about the visit as he had been. "Do I know any of the other people who might be visiting?"

"It will probably just be you, Dawn, Katara and John Sheppard," she told him. "If Dawn makes big eyes at me, Sam Winchester may end up going to, but it wouldn't be any more than that."

That made him feel better, because he knew Dawn and Sam from the New York trip, and John... "John is going to tease me next time he sees me, isn't he?"

Molly bit her lip to keep from giggling. "Probably. I made him promise to be nice to you while I was gone though and threatened to throw him in the pond when I get back if I find out he gave you too hard of a time."

"I will be sure to remind him of that," he laughed, very amused by the idea. "However, I think I can survive some teasing, so long as it is good natured."

"I'm sure it will be," Molly said. "John is not mean."

"No, I know he's not," he said quietly, starting to feel a bit sleepy after the long day. He shifted so he could rest his head on Molly's shoulder and closed his eyes, content beyond his ability to express it. "He simply cares for you, needs to assure himself I will not harm you."

Molly chuckled quietly and began to stroke his hair. "I should have warned you that you'll get that a lot. I somehow ended up with quite a few older brother types here."

Molly's hand felt good in his hair, warm and comforting. He couldn't remember the last time someone had...Oh. Yes he could. After Ulrich died. With a deliberate effort, he set the memory aside, snuggling closer to Molly. "That feels nice," he murmured. "People care about you, they want you to be safe. It's important that you're safe. Promise you'll be safe while you're gone."

Molly grinned and kissed Karal's forehead before continuing to stroke his hair. "I promise I will be safe," she told him.

Karal knew she couldn't promise, not really - no one could know what the future would hold - but the assurance still made him happy and he sighed and smiled. "Good, that's good," he said around a yawn. "I think I'm falling asleep."

Molly grinned more and gave him another kiss on the forehead. "There will be fireworks soon," she told him quietly. "You can sleep until then."

"No, I want to stay awake," he mumbled. Of course, his eyes wouldn't open, and the warmth of the fire, and of Molly, were combining to ensure the exact opposite happened. With a quiet sigh, Karal started to doze, his arms around Molly loosening, but he didn't let go.

Molly didn't mind at all. She held Karal as she continued to stroke his hair and watch the fire.
