Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.

Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!

Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

Ender and Ben hadn't quite answered the 'so is going on dates what we do now' question last week; which was fine, really. Ender'd gotten a trim that morning just to keep his hair from growing past his ears, and he was wearing his usual unadorned IF dress uniform as he arrived.

Ben wasn't really sure how to define it either, but since they'd been coming from the same place at about the same time, it made sense to arrive together, right?

He hadn't really been feeling the Jedi robes tonight and had settled for a suit instead.

"This is a lot of glitter," he commented.

"And a lot of Canada in general," Ender agreed. "Well, it's not the worst theme we've ever had..."

"If a little blinding due to glitter," Ben added, "but not bad." He glanced over at the photography choices. "I'll give you five bucks if you take a picture with moose antlers on."

Ender tilted his head. "I've considered this transaction," he said, "But I think you need those five bucks more than I do."

Ender shot him an amused look. Not being Tony or Topher, he said, "Nice try, but I'll have to pass."

Ben grinned back a little doofily. Something about that uniform and that smile...

Anyway.

"You're no fun at all," he declared. "So I guess that's also a no to you kissing a moose."

"I'm willing to compromise," Ender offered, "You can go kiss the moose, and I can get you some food while you do it."

Ender stole a glance over at the table. "...I think that's poutine," he said.

He'd seen that in Canada here and there.

He had quite the discerning palate, clearly.
