Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.

Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!

Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

Jake had gone for the classic look for Homecoming. A simple dark grey suit (http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lte06fRDa21r4hbfho1_250.png), white shirt and slim black tie. He'd even attempted not to shave this week to get a bit of a roguish look, but that had resulted in nothing visible.

He arrived alone for now since Caroline had gone organising obsessed and thwarted his plans to try and make this whole thing a proper date. Now give him a moment to boggle at the theme and the amount of glitter. He wondered how much people were going to end up eating glitter tonight.

It had been a while since Peter last tried to work the room, he had to admit that much. It was just hard to focus on stupid high school stuff when most of these people, despite their backgrounds, still seemed so preoccupied with things that didn't matter.

But that didn't mean he couldn't use some more back-up. So he'd dragged himself out of his room, dressed up in a nice suit, and made it to the dance. Hey, maybe the alumni would be less mind-numbing to talk to...

Ender and Ben hadn't quite answered the 'so is going on dates what we do now' question last week; which was fine, really. Ender'd gotten a trim that morning just to keep his hair from growing past his ears, and he was wearing his usual unadorned IF dress uniform as he arrived.

Goose wasn't really sure why he actually came to these dances but he had still shown up regardless.

He even had on a suit, it was nothing flashy but it was definitely a change from the outfits that he normally wore.

Dolf still didn't feel particularly comfortable going to big parties like this, especially not with his scruffy-looking suit. Still, that wasn't going to stop him from showing up, even if the Canadian decor flabbergasted him... a little.

He didn't fidget, which was also a plus.

Luke (http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_loju0qtQFh1qla3yuo1_r1_500.gif) hadn't had a date to last year's Homecoming but for some reason it hadn't bothered him like showing up alone this year did. He wasn't sure how long he was gonna stay, but he had to make an appearance at least.

Butters had always been taught that when you did these sorts of things, you did them right. And since he hadn't managed to get a date for the homecoming dance, he had to make sure he was absolutely dressed impeccibly (http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb3/skylieicons/butterstux.png), well, enough to stave off the fact that he wasn't doing this just right by having a date.

But that was okay. Not having a date just meant he had freedom, right? All he had to do was think about all that kissin' yesterday to get the right swagger going as he came into dance.

It was only a little bit strange arriving alone, as it turned out. Anyway, it wasn't a dwelling-on thing, and Kennedy, true to form, was dressed to kill in a sharply tailored new suit. No vest or tie, and the top couple of buttons of her shirt were left undone, and overall she was satisfied with the way she looked.

This was definitely a weekend for seeing old friends and having a damn good time, and she intended to make the most of it.

Quinn knew she looked good as she walked into the dance. Her hair was piled on top of her head, her dress (http://www.modcloth.com/Modcloth/Womens/Dresses/-Looking-Like-Vermillion-Bucks-Dress) was seriously cute, and she had the hottest date in the room. Even if she didn't get queen, it was promising to be a good night.

Although Alexander knew she'd offered because he was planning on being here for Homecoming, anyway, he felt honored and a good deal proud to be the one to escort his sister into the homecoming dance, to have her on his arm and show her off a little. He was well aware of Rosella's thoughts on courtship, but he still couldn't help feel a flush of pride that, out of all the possibilities she could have asked to be her escort (or even the possibility of shirking an escort all together), she'd still picked him.

"Please don't tell me you're only have me do this so that Mother doesn't give you a hard time about not choosing anyone else to accompany you, dear sister," he whispered, leaning in toward her at his arm as they drifted in, a grin on his face.

If Juliet was sad that she didn't even have Jeremy as an escort this time, it didn't show as she walked in. Besides, she thought her dress (http://www.unique-vintage.com/wong-elegant-platinum-beaded-feather-dresssz-p-8863.html) was to die for.

Of course, the illusion of self-sufficiency was spoiled as soon as her phone buzzed and she started tapping away to Jeremy again. He was going to hear every single detail of the dance's decor, whether he liked it or not.

Jack had not planned on coming to the dance, but it turned out he was a complete fool for Emma. Dressed in a sharp black suit, he paused at the entrance to survey the room, noting with gratitude that there seemed to be no trend toward attendees turning into sentient moss.

Though the survey did make him feel old; the students were starting to look notably young to him.

Not that she'd ever admit it to her mom, Ellen was barely willing to tolerate her hunting as it was.

Tim Horton's somehow managed to cater the event, so along with the sugar, there was plenty of coffee, tea, and um, bagel BELTs (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OttVqIS8QG8/SYkigtTSnRI/AAAAAAAAA30/fV5Ivvh8jRk/s400/IMG_1735.JPG). The maple syrup fountain (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2379/2248593808_0f32a97d89_o.jpg) was surrounded by bite-sized food on sticks, like Canadian bacon, timbits, and waffles. More daring eaters could grab a sample of poutine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine) and wash it down with some fizzy Vernors ginger ale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernors)!

Of course Shunsui would like to pretend to be a responsible adult in overseeing everything and trying to be a good influence. But as evidenced by the sake he was tipping from his usual jug into his cup of punch, it was clear that he wasn't trying too hard.

He had, however, tucked a few maple leaves in with the flower barrettes in his hair, to be a little more decorated for the occasion.

Thankfully the DJ was willing to play anything people requested as they stepped up onto the dance floor, so there was a wide variety of music, not just Barenaked Ladies, to shake it to!

Ender wasn't trying to hide from anyone - he just never really got that hungry. Added to that was that the corners were nice and quiet and he could observe the others - especially Peter - from a distance, and he was fine here, really.
