Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.

Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!

Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

"There's that. You didn't magically get a lot of money, did you?" Jake asked. "Otherwise you could buy up Groovy Tunes. I don't even know who owns that place. I'm sure Raven will appreciate it."

Even if somewhere Jake still found it a little weird to think of Jono with anyone but Didi after all this time. Not that he was blaming Jono, it just was weird.

For what it was worth, sometimes Jono still had moments where he had to wrench himself out of moping over Didi's... leaving. They hadn't been meant to be. Not for always. But while she'd been here, it had certainly felt as though they were.

//Sadly, there's no vast Starsmore fortune, so far as I'm aware. Much as I miss that little shop, whoever owns it is going to continue owning it until some other buyer comes along.//

"I'll keep it in mind," Jake was lying, yes. "Next time I'll be an alumni too. That's kind of weird. How are you and Raven even dealing with the long distance thing?"

At least, it had sounded like he was still on with Raven.

"Yeah, it's figuring out what those options are," Jake made a face. "I've got time, at least." Time he would most likely spend avoiding the issue. "Let me know if anyone's in need of a werewolf."

Jake scratched the back of his neck. "Always wanted to be a mechanic," he said, "but then I turned into a werewolf and that wasn't possible anymore. Which was mostly the pack deciding it's bad for us to just mix with normal people. It's not a bad rule, at least here there are people who can stop me if I lose it."

"Probably not, but I can't really think of one to just go to long term," he said. "Well, maybe one but Caroline's still got a year ahead of her and it's kind of a big question to ask, you know?"

He'd asked about Jono! So, naturally, Jono had to give the bare minimum for an answer and then turn it right back around. He was tricksy like that.

//Well... if she's got a year ahead of her, that gives you more time to nerve yerself up to doing the asking,// Jono pointed out. //And if that's the case, it isn't a matter of finding a place to go to long-term, it's a matter of finding a place you wouldn't mind spending a year at. Maybe travel. See th'world or something. Or find some place where you can take an apprenticeship under a mechanic somewhere.//

//I work hands-on with students back home who are trying to make decisions like that for themselves all th'time, mate. I don't mind. It's kind of what I do. And for people who know what it's like to be hunted down for being what they are, no less. Finding a plan that works for them is... fairly important.//
